Quote: I cant wait till they bring out the $1000 for $1000 coin I was just thinking the same thing, they should come out with a $500 for $500 series and a $1000 for $1000 series. Then watch this forum explode!

I don't have to choose between them. I bought 3 of each one ... very simple and then I will do with them what I want.

Good points jsinger21! Also, I think the $100 coin makes a great gift (graduation, B-day, etc.), especially for the big-spenders, like grandparents, who tend to spoil their grand-kids these days as well as have concern for their future!

Quote: 2) 100for100 series depicts wildlife in motion. Where did you get that? All the 100$ for 100$ are gonna depict wildlife theme? Like the silver bullion?

Sebastien, it's from the RCM site's description of the Bison coin: "First coin in this unique Wildlife in Motion series"

Quote: MoneyPenny asked: "Why do we need so many threads on the $100 coins? This is the 4th one!" At this rate, I won't be surprised if we end up with 100 threads for $100. Better this than 20,000 threads for 50 pennies... I also agree with allspice that the Buffalo coins will make terrific gifts.

I guess I'm one of the few that won't be buying one. I'm not sure what it is about the coin, but it doesn't captivate me. I know in theory that buying one is a no brainer because you technically can't lose face value. I just can't pull the trigger on this one

I wonder if the next ones in the series are gonna sell that quick. Like the 2011 20$ 4 20$ sold faster than the 2012 or 2013 ones.

I think the $100 is targeting a slightly different market with some overlap to the 20 for 20 market. Kind of like comparing a Mazda RX-8 to a Porsche Boxster. The Mazda is more affordable but the Porsche is more exclusive. While someone might be able to afford the Porsche, they might not want to pay the price for it. Some people might have both.
It is like everything. People buy what they like, if they have the money, and can justify the cost to themselves (or their spouse... LOL). The mint is making a product that they think people will buy. They don't really care who buys it, as long as they can sell it. Just my thoughts...

How about a 1 million for 1 million, mintage of 25 to keep the rich folks happy? Face value would be 1 million of course.
