Quote:I've heard that State Quarters are worthless 25 cents (I could probably get a good premium on a complete album up here, but that's because the later issues haven't even trickled into our rolls yet) when circulated - will ATB Quarters be any different? I think it will depend on what sort of outlet you have, when you want to sell coins. I bought, and still buy, a lot of State/Territory/ATB quarters. I do buy rolls from the mint, but also have bought a lot, at or near face .. from banks or when others decide to sell out. I sell 4 or 5 sets a year (State) .. and at least double my money .. I am trying not to sell ATB's until the series is complete.

The demand will be there and it will worth some money (for the 'uncirculated' coins).... however, I don't think it will enough to allow you to retire early OR send your kids/grandkids to college for free.....

Circualated ATBs will only be worth face value that's true. I've been quietly putting together a couple of 8146s and they look great. Just need to add a seventh page for the 2012-? S circulation quarters.

Does the Littleton promotion still available? Their offer is pretty good for starters.....

Considering that a number of CCF members have yet to find an ATB Quarter in circulation (and a larger number have found less than ten ATB's total), and that banks cannot special-order these Quarters (greatly reducing the percentage of total mintage that would otherwise be hoarded, as happened with State Quarters), these factors combine to make completing an album of ATB Quarters sourced from circulation basically impossible in most parts of the country. Even here in Denver, where I have found all D-Mint ATB Quarters from Hot Springs to Perry's Victory in my change, my circulation find ATB's are housed in Littleton date-only folders, so I don't have to bother with P's (of which I've found seven total in change since Jan. 2010). No, you won't be able to retire on completed business strike ATB Quarter folders, but they may have a slight premium, for the reasons above. PS: The Glacier-P I found today is worn down to VF, and not very many ATB's have that much "mileage" on them...

For my "S" mint quarters .. I went with Dansco 7148 For 2010 I put in a set of "S" silver proof quarters, for 2011 I put in a set of "S" clad proof quarters. Starting 2012 I am putting in the "S" business strikes. At least this is my plan .. until Dansco comes out with something else .. which my best guess will be when the ATB series is complete.

I think they stand a lot better chance of gaining value than the State Quarters. I see quite a few more 1999, 2000 and 2001 State Quarters than I do ATBs. I'd bet that by 2030, there will still be State Quarters in circulation, but almost no ATBs.

Not for at least 50 years. Clad Washington quarters still aren't worth much. The population of the US isn't going to keep growing like it did in the 20th century, which is part of why there was a supply demand imbalance.

I believe that a completed ATB uncirculated set will be worth a small premium, especially while the mass marketers are promoting them. And when the series ends the mass marketers will promote them as "no longer minted" which will help also. The much lower mintages from State Quarters will help but they are not low enough for circulated coins to ever be worth a premium. It is just fun to collect. What more do we need?

Wait, I thought coin collecting was to collect what you enjoy? I know you can also sell but I only collect what's enjoyable, not waiting-for-premium.
THESE are just my opinions, please don't take it the wrong way.

Very good point Solotime. ATBs just don't "do it" for me so I pretty much stayed clear of them. If I don't appreciate it on a personal level, then the only thing left is monetary value. Considering I can pick proof sets up in abundance at my LCS at a very good price, it doesn't excite me even in that respect. Just my opinion for me of course.
