How about the "wide AMs"... what are those - the '98s to 2000s?

Some people hoard all below 1982 pennies because they are copper. Also, I hoard the 2009 pennies because they are getting harder to find. I'm sure you know this already, but just in case you don't, look for the Indian Head cents. Rare, but I would hate to hear you threw one back. That should get you started. I'm sure someone else will comment if I forgot something. Good luck!

1998, 1999, and 2000 on Philadelphia struck cents the 'America' on the upper right of the reverse has Close AM (which is the norm) and Wide AM (harder to find but plenty out there)

For pictures as mentioned above lincolncentresource.com is a great source for the wide AMs and more varieties.

I hunt for everything: gem and BU coins, varieties, errors, copper, extreme Machine Doubling, toners, wheats, woodies, etc. Do some reading around the forum and you'll learn.

I might be crazy, but I believe I have a 43 copper, what are these worth? Going to verify when I get home.

Believe the RedBook all you want to, but if you found 5 in 2 rolls, it's probably not very valuable. My 2011 RedBook states that a MS-63 1982P mintage of almost 300 million is more valuable than a MS-63 1951S with a mintage of almost 8 million. I would never value a 1982P over a 1951S. Value is usually age/mintage based, except for the War Nickels which have silver in them.

There are very few even known. If it did turn out to be a 43 copper that was actually legit, you would have something. If you see it and it appears to be a 43 copper, take a magnet to it and post pictures on here for verification. Good luck, hope you have one!

what are Gem and BU,toners,woodies?

went through 15 rolls this weekend and like 1/4 of them where copper (pre '82) do you save them? I have like 3 rolls of them.. I did find 6 wheats I was pleased with that

my goal is a box a week.. and one other type like Quarter's or Dimes

1960 small date! Also 1970-S small date and I personally like the 1982 small dates, both P and D.

There were four different reverse designs that year.
