Maybe, and I stress maybe, the Mint would have been justified in asking 250 for the set if they had packaged it in a nice box because the maroon clamshell case is a joke for a quality presentation and they should feel shame (or is that sham?).
Still, I think the gold plating will look very good on the set and I did order one.
Well folks, once again I find myself agreeing with that Ottawa Senators fan... (a bad
Habit)

I was very reluctant to buy this set, particularly because it did not look that attractive on the mint's site and because of the hefty price. However, after seeing
coinchange and
arianzo's photos; and reading the glowing comments of others, my wife and I decided to order a set last week.
Two days later we learn that the set is available from Canada Post's website for 15% less!
So what to do?
Cancel my mint order, and snag one from CP?
Dither, dither dither....
Finally I realize that to do so might end up with me missing out on the set completely, or actually having to pay for two sets (albeit one would have been cheaper).
My final decision was based on the following.
1) I did not want to have the set shipped by regular ground parcel post by CP since there would be no guarantee when (or if) it would arrive. So I would have to spend approximately $15 to the final cost, still for a saving of $22.
2) I also thought of my terrible experience with the "Autumn Bliss" coin which I ordered in September. I got a an order confirmation number and a verbal promise that I would be certain to receive the coin. Then I heard nothing for months and finally called last week to be told that CP is out of stock.
3) Since I had just received an O Canada coloured Maple leaves coin from CP, which was completely loose in the oversized box with no protective packaging, I was worried what might happen to the fractional set. It could end up being a fragmented set!
Therefore I decided to keep my order with the mint and forget about CP (they ran out of sets shortly thereafter anyway). I get free Xpresspost shipping and the mint always packs the coins very well.
Well, guess what? Yesterday I learned mint has already shipped the set, so I would not have been able to cancel it.
By the way this sets a record for the fastest shipping time I have ever experienced from the mint.
I know this is a very long winded post, but I thought somebody
might be interested in it...

P.S. Good luck to those of you who ordered from CP and keep your fingers crossed.
P.P.S. We're really looking forward to seeing the set "in person".
