@pocketchange50, I did the best I could with the set of coins for a pic. I was always getting glare on one or two depending on which way they were turned.

But I got a nice closeup of the 1oz for you!

I think they are a beautiful set for sure.

Hope you enjoy!

Nice pics! What's up with all the NGC graded sets selling for over $500?

I'm not sure, but it does make one tend to wonder what the non graded ones will be valued at down the road!

Thanks for the photos, the 1 Oz looks splendid, a very nice set, too bad it's out of my range. Maybe the shopping channel will have on their payment plan. They complement the pied fort very nicely. It's great to see the real photos of these coins! I've often wondered why the mint and dealer don't use the real photos they look so much better.

I'm very on the fence about scooping this. Only thing stopping me is the $250.

Well, This is my forte' Picking collectible winners. I got the "Canadian Eagle 1-4" sets spot on. "the portrait of power spiked in PCGS 70.

Any I LOVE this design. I Bought 5 sets from APMEX and a 6th in pf70 and Mahogany box for resale.

Mint is out. APMEX is OUT. Provident has a minimum of 10. I never got that message before...They are probably almost out.

My OGP #'s were 9976 all around that range. 2014 sets all almost gone...I guarantee it.

BTW someone mentioned the pf70 sets going for 500....That is nothing if this is a hit.

BTW like the Piedforts too and the Proof Gold and LIB 2013 sets. The proof silver lib set is still cheap on ebay. Dealers are putting a big premium on them. The Silver 1/4 ounce was minted in such a low quantity if you an get a set for 150ish on ebay that coin will pay for your set in a bit.

Maybe, and I stress maybe, the Mint would have been justified in asking 250 for the set if they had packaged it in a nice box because the maroon clamshell case is a joke for a quality presentation and they should feel shame (or is that sham?).

Still, I think the gold plating will look very good on the set and I did order one.

Well folks, once again I find myself agreeing with that Ottawa Senators fan... (a bad Habit)

I was very reluctant to buy this set, particularly because it did not look that attractive on the mint's site and because of the hefty price. However, after seeing coinchange and arianzo's photos; and reading the glowing comments of others, my wife and I decided to order a set last week.

Two days later we learn that the set is available from Canada Post's website for 15% less!

So what to do?
Cancel my mint order, and snag one from CP?

Dither, dither dither....

Finally I realize that to do so might end up with me missing out on the set completely, or actually having to pay for two sets (albeit one would have been cheaper).

My final decision was based on the following.

1) I did not want to have the set shipped by regular ground parcel post by CP since there would be no guarantee when (or if) it would arrive. So I would have to spend approximately $15 to the final cost, still for a saving of $22.

2) I also thought of my terrible experience with the "Autumn Bliss" coin which I ordered in September. I got a an order confirmation number and a verbal promise that I would be certain to receive the coin. Then I heard nothing for months and finally called last week to be told that CP is out of stock.

3) Since I had just received an O Canada coloured Maple leaves coin from CP, which was completely loose in the oversized box with no protective packaging, I was worried what might happen to the fractional set. It could end up being a fragmented set!

Therefore I decided to keep my order with the mint and forget about CP (they ran out of sets shortly thereafter anyway). I get free Xpresspost shipping and the mint always packs the coins very well.

Well, guess what? Yesterday I learned mint has already shipped the set, so I would not have been able to cancel it.

By the way this sets a record for the fastest shipping time I have ever experienced from the mint.

I know this is a very long winded post, but I thought somebody might be interested in it...

P.S. Good luck to those of you who ordered from CP and keep your fingers crossed.

P.P.S. We're really looking forward to seeing the set "in person".

Good move, Numooose! Waiting for a coin, which may have already sold out or have potential for damage by CP, then the savings aren't worth the headaches.

Actually, you can refuse the package at the door and ask the postal clerk for the tracking # as a reference to reassure the package arrives back to the Mint safely. I did this once and got a full refund... FYI...

Thanks allspice! I'll keep this in mind for the future, although I'm glad I don't have to this time. I'm just looking forward to receiving the set.
