But again, in 2011 the Chinese Gov. made it legal for it's citizenry to own bullion. While the mintages of Pandas have risen, they are still at 8 mil. compared to 40 mil for ASE's plus since 2011 there are about 2 billion more jingoistic collectors vying for those 8 mil. There are fewer than ever Pandas coming to America.

@ SA4H: To answer some of your questions quickly, I am not necessarily collecting world bullion series by series. I am currently collecting multiple series such as the Libertads, Maples, Samilia Elephants, and ASE. I do not have the funds at this time to purchase full tubes. I collect one or two of each as I have the cash. I was basically just looking at starting another series with the others to add variety to my bullion collection. I do not display my bullion. As of now, I have them locked safely in a very large safe along with my firearms. I am having trouble keeping the moisture under control. I have two dehumidifying rods and a silica sand canister in the safe already. Yet my silver is still getting the "milky" look. I have even put the airtites into pill containers (my fiancée is a pharmacy tech and found me some that fit airtites just perfectly). I am still on the high side of humidity. I live in a very humid climate and the safe is not in the best place that it could be but will not fit through doorways. It took a forklift to place it where it is already. I have never much liked the pandas. I have seen some of the past years and did not really like most of the designs. Just my opinion.

See, I love Stud because this chap is collecting the Somalia Elephants which is great.
Denco, I gotta disagree sharply with you. Way too many Pandas, there will be a massive glut of them for 2013 as many get spooked from buying an asset drops in price.
As it is, even goldmart STILL has sheets of pandas, even MCM still has gobs for them for gods sake.
The Pandas for 2013 were a massive flop and they will be dead money for years to come. 8 mil is TOO much for this series and I say it continues to decline in value from here. Furthermore, the Chinese are still putting tons of money into real estate and other reforms for investing are on the books and on the way for China so I wouldn't be confident that collectors are going nuts for these.
So, in the end, stay away from stacking Pandas, they arent worth it. Give me a roll of Somalia elephants anyday or even the Koalas.

Simple question: and it's split between the OP and yup (sorry dude). Voila: If you're collecting world bullion in this way, then you are looking at mintages and see them more as collectibles than an asset. That's really the only reason I can see why one would care about bullion mintage. Collectibility versus savings, yes? I thought the discussion was about which one is nicer or preferable, not how many were made? Clarity is nice, thanks. :) I'm just trying to see where we all stand on this because there are a plethora of reasons to collect bullion but we are talking here about which one is most pleasing to collect. (I'm glad we're not talkin' about the regular silver hoo-ha and just getting down to enjoyment. )

I think when one collects bullion its important to also make sure they accrue value, should you have to (again,, heaven FORBID) sell your collection.
I have read through the years and had friends and been told countless stories where the time came because of unfortunate circumstances and they had to sell or part with their collection.
The sad part and common theme besides having to give up their collections was the fact that when it came time to sell, they hadn't bought quality which they mistakenly had thought IF something happened, they thought there collection would be worth something.
So I think its also key and important to make sure what you collect will give you some net gains... which isn't a bad thing.

Libertad, I was asking which people enjoy more in general. I am not that worried about mintage. I was curious to which most had preference for. Around here, in my neck of the woods, few that I know collect world bullion. Most stack ASE or 90%. I enjoy the variety with a lot of the world coins along with sharing them with other collectors or friends. It seems to me that I spark more interest with non collectors by showing them bullion or coins from other countries. Showing them something from a place thousands of miles away from us. Makes people smile and get that twinkle in their eye like a kid in a candy store.

Another series for you to consider is the Rwanda Wildlife. The earlier issue are quite expensive and hard to find (mintage are in the range of 5K for the older one and 10K for the Cheetah); however, the design is very very nice, if you like wildlife . I currently own the Cheetah and Rhino and I think they worth every dollar I've paid for (in the range of $40 to $65 ea).
I agree with yup: When you are talking about collecting series then it's both enjoyment, completion-of-a-series, appreciation in value vs silver stacking, just count the tube or oz.

I collect for the fun, relaxation, and satisfaction of it. I feel bad for the people that agonize over every acquisition. When I started collecting, I just started stacking silver., no matter what it was, Eagles, Pandas , Kooks , Libs, SMLs. If it was cheap and I thought I could roll it for a profit, I bought it. I collected about 100oz, then put them in a box, got low on funds and lost interest. I thought I was a coin collector, but I wasn't. I was a stacker, worried only about my coins worth. To me , a " silver investor " is not a coin collector
When the funds were replenished I decide to take a different road, I sold all my duplicates and bought a bunch of Dansco albums. I stopped focusing on stacks of slabs, which I had bought exclusively ( because they were the best investment)and started concentrating on my Panda and Libertad series. I got back to my collecting roots. It is now about the thrill of the hunt, finding a BU Gem to fill those holes in the album. I don't over pay for coins, but I have stopped agonizing over every purchase, " was it too much " " will I lose my investment ? " I am now back to being a collector . Back from the "dark side " . If you miss it, you can always head back over to Yahoo Finance forum with everyone else who posts 20 times a day over the slightest movement in silver and gold.

No guaranteed which bullion is best bang for the bucks IMO, just which one is in demand at the time, collect what you enjoy! No investment is always profitable.

Does the premium on the 2013 koala increase just before or just after the release of the 2014...usually anyway
