Agree - it complex issue.
Should the person speak with manufacturer or reseller....

My thought - that the priority (for RCM) it's direct customers.
The same like you can be MC only if you spend money at RCM (or their store) and not at official dealer.
This kind of reward.
But when you buying at dealer's store, you get it's "loyalty points" (or whatever), like it do CA and CC&C.

The last comment is good - just the facts. But I suspect advertisement for an MC. "Good to be MC" .... every customer in this case deserve the same.

Other deals with COA and mintage split questions, that frequently appear, when mint issues subscription series as a set and sells single coins from this series.

So the mint sold less that 800 gold coins and it's safe to say many of them went through dealers (most still have it for sale on their websites as does the RCM).

So the number of Mint customers who bought all three is pretty low. They don't care about a few hundred customers - there are plenty more out there. As for your rep, same deal. If you stop buying, he/she has a list of MC members who would be happy to get a rep.

Asking for a box is more than asking for a box. You would be asking for one of the 1200 sets they have for sale including a COA, additional handling, additional shipping etc. The mint is not going to incur those additional costs and lose potential revenue to please a few hundred people.

I applaud anyone who tries but if the Mint sends you a free box, I'll eat my hat.

On a similar note, some of you may recall that a lot of the early Group of Seven boxes didn't include a COA yet boxes shipped later did. I purchased the box and three coins indirectly (not from the Mint) and tried to get a COA from the mint. No dice.

what if you are a dealer and you still hold quite a few of these gold coins? I am sure the dealers will be complaining as much as we do as well. I just think the mint mess it up this time and didn't think it through (the effect it causes) but then again, maybe they did. Like CC said above, they probably thinking they really only mad less than 800 customer that buy directly from them...

I'd bet my other hat (not the one I'm going to eat) that they gave it no thought whatsoever.

Guys!

I don't think it should matter if only ONE customer is affected by the mint's marketing shenanigans.

From the RCM itself (Bold letters by me for emphasis):

Our mission and values

The Royal Canadian Mint is a world-class provider of branded investment, collectible and secure payment products and services that connect people and inspire celebration....

We are committed to and will attain our vision to be the best mint in the world through the development of the following cultural values:
•Customer focus
•Excellence
•Innovation
•Being Canadian
•Integrity
•People

The mint should look hard at how well it is living up to their own mission and values, and do the right thing!

It might even out in the end, because I'm almost 95% sure you will have to pay tax on this set. Living in a 13 or 15% province that won't be cheap. I'm not defending the mint. I think what their doing is wrong but selling it as a set has it's disadvantages as well. It'll be at around $100 in Ontario And I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay that.

Just a thought ....
For all the people that did buy the 3 coins previously, how long do you have to return them if you are unsatisfied with them.
I think if I had all 3 I would just return them and then buy them again with the box

So for those of you who might want to display case it's going to be staggering $100.73 in tax if you live in Ontario. Display case not shown.

No where in the listing of this coin "set" on the RCM site can one find the actual original mintage for each of the three coins. If one searches around the site one can find them.

Misleading at best...
