Odds are roughly 1 in 40 for me. But, if you check the mintage amounts, they aren't rare at all. I kept the first couple, then put them back. I only keep them now if they are proofs. The Ike 76's have the big S/small S variation, so some of them are worth keeping. On ebay, a roll of 76 quarters is between .1 to 2X face. I tried keeping 76 Kennedy halves, but out of four rolls I got, 1/4 were 76, so I put those back too.

Is there any errors or variations to look for on these?

Kind of. There is a silver bicentennial set where the half, ike and quarter are 90% silver, but you won't see those in change.

There's a quite valuable DDO '76-D quarter.

Anything else pretty much has to be Gem to get much money.

Are the bicentennial silvers 90% or 40% silver? I always thought they were 40%ers...and as for not finding them in change...I have found multiple silver bicentennial halves in bank rolls and have found two silver bicentennial Isenhowers at banks...so it isn't impossible

They're 40% Ag

I find 76's in my change all the time, they're just as common as any other quarter from the 70's. The 76 halves are very common in bu/au condition so they're really not worth saving.

I find them every once now and then. The MS ones are keepers only.

I started paying attention and can find them pretty regularly on the Jersey Shore.

I see them frequently as well, about 40 miles south of you.

No bicentennial quarters for me, but I got change of a $2 1976 bill from my local coin show this past Sunday, nothing interesting at the show, just pick up supplies.

When shopping afterward, I received a 2000 Canadian quarter in change, ATM I went to get cash out give me a $20 binary note from the rest of the few twenties I took out.
