Ah .......decisions.....decisions ......... resubmit a valuable coin for a nice new holder or keep the Old Green Holder. What would present better and what would be worth more, long term. NICE addition.

Keep the holder, a little plastic or metal polish will clean those scratches right off

My opinion about OGH coins is that if they haven't already been resubmitted for an upgrade other people better than me have decided it won't upgrade.

I agree, keep the holder. I have used a little cd polishing stuff and gotten good results. There are several products you can use. Many threads on this topic. With a little time and effort you can get really good results.

A slab is a slab......is a slab.......is a slab.
That could be a $1000 plus coin. Does anyone think that a beat up OGH slab is going to substantially add to that value over a pristine new blue holder? PCGS should have no problem reholdering the coin for a fee. A slab is a slab and a PCGS slab adds a lot to the value of that coin, but a coin like that deserves a better presentation than a beat up old holder. IMHO

As far as clearing off the scratches on the OGH I have used plastic lens polish (used for automobile headlights) and have had good results.

thanks for the guesses! Many of you were right on with AU-58. I don't see any wear at all on the coin, but the obverse luster is somewhat subdued(though still apparent all over the coin). The reverse luster is stronger.
