Thanks to all for your help. This is going to take a long time! Lots of 06's, but no luck yet.

Now that they've stop minting Pennies, I pretty much keep all that I find. They cost me nothing and I've already got a large barrel that's half full!

OK you got me digging through my Canadian cents with a magnet and I found one that is magnetic, a 2003. I'm betting noting special but thought I'd ask. Also are there any key dates to watch out for or do we have to wait for the mint to get done destroying them to pick up the pieces and figure out what's left?

There are lots that are magnetic. I guess the rare one is the 2006 magnetic, with no logo and no "P".

When Iam CRH I touch every coin to a magnet just in case something is that shouldn't be or visa-versa. You never know.

Well, finished the quick and dirty search through the 50 lbs of pennies. Nothing extremely valuable, but did find: (1) 1979 double "79" variety (3) 1979 double "979" varieties (2) Nice and shiny 1962 "Hanging 2 varieties (1) 1981 clipped planchet (13) Pre-1960's (6) US Wheats - 1918,42D,45,49S,55D,57 (nothing in a spectacular grade but I am always happy when finding wheats. Tons of pre-1970's, lots in great grades, about 5lbs of US cents, which I will start looking for errors soon! A few pounds of 2006's, but no valuable finds...but I'm keeping them aside just in case! Nothing too thrilling, but it kept me interested!

At one point I was really fired up to go through some pennies... had a whole lot of fun with it too... for awhile Life has gotten a little busy around here with my little guy and soon to have another little girl too... I'm going to enjoy going through the 15-20 boxes of pennies later when my two little ones can do it with me... crazy to say this but I literally just dumped them all back into boxes after going through half of them already once...

Neat finds. I love searching bags because everything just gets dumped in without anyone looking at it. We have a coin roll hunting forum with a dedicated Canadian finds thread if you get anymore pennies. Also just FYI for everyone. The thread somehow morphed from $50 in pennies to 50lbs of pennies but $50 is actually about 30lbs +/-.

50lbs or 30lbs...I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet... Someone will probably find a new variety and I will go through them all again! LOL..
