The Fed accelerated release of the State Quarters. They aren't doing it with the ATB series. I'm sure many are still sitting in Fed vaults.

Probably everyone has some State Quarters saved. I don't watch the modern day mintage anymore. It would take years for our common coins to be worth money.

I pulled a Rushmore from circulation a couple weeks ago.

My Mt Rushmore came in the set of 2013 NGC PF69s I won on ebay for, get this, $35 shipped. That's five, count'em five, silver proof State Quarters graded and slabbed for $7 each. There are still some deals on ebay if you're patient and search diligently. Rick

oh well I'm glad I loaded up on Acadias, Chacos and El Yunques before the mintages started sky rocketing...

Since 2012, I have been buying a roll of the S-minted ATB Quarters. On average the S-minted ATB Quarters mintages are around 1.7 million. The P & D ATB Quarters I have are in mint sets. In SoCal, I still have not run across a Mt Rushmore, but the Fort McHenry's are plentiful.

The Mt. Rushmore is the first ATB Quarter design to exceed the lowest-mintage State Quarter design (Oklahoma). I buy the "S" rolls also, but I must admit that the Rushmore D's I have are excellent, some are quite close to the "S" Quarters' quality.

Quote: crazyforATB: Why just those 3, what about Hawaii? because those were the 3 lowest minted ones, every one since then has 80-450 million more floating around.

Quote: crazyforATB: oh well I'm glad I loaded up on Acadias, Chacos and El Yunques before the mintages started sky rocketing... I backed up the truck on those three. I have a ton of Hawaii Volcanos too, just because I like them. Even as high as the Rushmore mintage is, the fact that the average Joe can't go to his local bank and load up on BU Rushmore rolls massively reduces the percentages of BU coins collected hoarded as compared to State Quarters.

I totally agree with DNA assessment; however, the question is: Does it make economical sense to pay for these rolls at more than face value (ie: buy the rolls from USMint and sit on it for a few years)? I'm sure it will be better than leave the cash in a saving account though.....

In a rather uninspired article in Numismatic News, David Harper basically says the same thing we have been saying. The recent economic downturn has forced many people to "cash in" their State Quarter hoards and that lowered demand for new ATB's. He seems to think that 2010, will always be the key dates in the series.

I'm actually rather excited to see some higher mintages on these, perhaps more will make it into my change.
