@sw3dish_ch3f:

Everything is possible here....
The COTY Award didn't contribute much to the series, so just order from Mint another one and return your coin to CP.Or just try to find additional one at POs, I believe, many ordered them.

@ sw3dish ch3f and Dominic

It's unfortunate that you did not receive your coins in the good condition one would expect.

However, I am very reluctant to order coins from Canada Post. My one experience was enough to turn me off.

When I finally received my Autumn Bliss coin (four months after I ordered it and after being told I would never receive it and cancelling my order would not be necessary), it was shipped LOOSE with absolutely no protective wrapping in an over-sized box. Miraculously there was no damage to anything.

I guess Canada Post has such confidence in the high quality of its shipping and delivery service that sending out a coin like this is perfectly acceptable..In your cases, obviously that was wrong...

The reason I prefer to order from CP is because of the free shipping. I'm not MC so I have to pay for shipping from the Mint.

Moose, you're right about their packaging. I'm not impressed either. My experience is they tend to use those flat rectangular boxes that don't have enough depth. They just force the package in.

Last week I returned two coins to CP Philatelic. I'm afraid they'll black list me for returning so many in such a short time

i bought mine from my CP counter. At first the post master gave me a call saying I've got your coin, you can come pick it up. When I got there she told me she was going to return them all and reorder because they were all broken. I didn't ask to see the damage. shoud've. But anyway 1 week later she called be back to say the new one is in.
Rest in Peace

The only 'damaged' coins I ever got from Canada Post was a few years back. They were dumping their Early 1998 - 2005 Oh Canada series onto ebay some of the cases were cracked - I picked up one of each for about $5.00 with free shipping.

Just noticed that the status on this one is now "Awaiting Stock" on the RCM web site. Wonder if it's a temporary situation or if the coin is essentially sold out at the RCM.

I don't see it listed on the Canada Post site anymore either.

Yeah, if it sells out quickly, will the Mint reconsider making this the last in the series? I'm not terribly surprised Canada Post doesn't have it--they stopped listing the previous coins in the series when the Mint still had them up on the website. I note it's still available at the three boutiques, however, so it may only be temporary. Unlike the meadowlark, where they say 78% sold, there is no sold percentage given for Tiktaalik so that *may* indicate a temporary situation.

72% Sold out. Confirms my opinion that its a miss. I thought the point of these was to sell coins and get interest from the younger crowd. I wonder how fast a "Mainstream" Dino would have sold out. Maybe a cool Albertasaurus or even an Edmontonsaurus.

Not to resurrect the old topic, but interesting thought:

In the 2011 it was really novelty and demand was huge.
In the 2012 the demand was close to '0' and re-sellers remain with terrific amount of unsold coins.
And at 2014 the series ended, became history, since then no one surprised with GITD stuff.

And suddenly in 2016 / 2017, Austrian Mint starts to issue 12 coin series of CuNi GITD with doubtful design mintage of 50.000 and this stuff becomes hot like I don't know what.
Where from they took the buyers for this?

And all happens, when we have increased variety of everything from everywhere....
Will the RCM coins be popular, if our mint will decide on similar?
