they wouldn't sell it on the spot because they wanted to do a little more research on it. I said I would come back saturday with a fair offer and some info on the note.

You have about a 1\3 offset printing error, maybe 200.00 if it was full offset 500.00

they just got it in and I would like some opinions on value and what you would call this error and how did it happen.

Offset printing error (30-40% offset).

Book value in Unc. is $225.

This usually happens when a wet sheet of freshly printed notes is placed on top of another sheet.

thanks for all your valuable opinions. I hope I can make an offer to them that they will accept. I'll post here if I get it.

just curious...is there supposed to be a sheet of paper (or something?) that goes between the sheets of banknotes? is that why there is such a sharp end to the transfer of ink?

Not that I'm aware of. Usually the sheets are dry when they are stacked though.

I like it. Reminds me of a brockage except on a note instead of a coin. For the banknote experts: This is ink transfer from another note right? I can see the serial number from the other side of this note (2280629). Is there a reason the serial number from the other note wasn't transferred onto this note?

the notes are printed on the sheets first and then the sheets are fed into the one that prints the serial numbers.

I would still like to know how the transfered ink stops at that perfect angled line and the mirrored ink is perfectly in line with the obverse.
