I agree, ebay doesn't do enough and I sometimes wonder if anyone ever looks at the complaint reports, and even if they did, often they wouldn't know what to look for. Also, ebay has become a bit of a "vault" from a corporate standpoint with no real way for customers to contact or interact with the company to put forth ideas, suggestions and/or complaints outside of the "cookie cutter" issues. Indeed that is a problem but I think ebay needs to be continuously pushed to improve the trade environment (both for buyers and sellers alike). I once suggested "field experts", members of the ebay community that are active through either buying or selling to be the ones to deal with or at least have some involvement with complains associated with their field of knowledge. If you take an example of a fake coin listing that may be obvious to the coin community, that listing may not be so obvious to an ebay support individual sitting in California with no coin knowledge. So what does he do now? Take the complaintant's word for it? What if the complaint is unfounded? Allowing the "wild west" to flourish also opens the door to fraud on the buyer's end. Not sure what the answer is but I'd like to see ebay more proactive in that aspect.

It looks like the seller sold 3 men's hockey quarters earlier marketed as the raised 2. All three were engraved. And 3 left negative feedback.

lol, thats pathetic. It looks like ebay removed the negative feedback that was left. It's as if they know the guy is scamming and they want him to continue scamming.

Sad sad sad. I wonder how long it will be before the seller lists another 1985 "POINTED" 5.

I still see all the negative feedback - guy's only got a 94.2% By ebay's own rules shouldn't he be suspended?

And another one......... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...271411844858I sent the seller a link to see the difference between the pointed and blunt varieties. Auction ends on 10 hours. I'm interested to see if it gets relisted. Turns out that this seller actually has two blunt fives listed as pointed fives.

And it's not "another one", it's the same exact coin, same "rarely to find" description, and a "different" seller. The second one listed is also the same coin, and both of them say "what you see is exactly what you will receive".

I called ebay, spoke to a nice woman, and got both sellers reported.

kbbpll. I'm curious what ebay said to you? Was it a standard "we will look into it"?

All she said was basically that she reported both sellers and for privacy reasons she couldn't tell me what action would be taken. There was some script that she read about valuing me or something, but it went in one ear and out the other. I made sure that she noted that the two items offered by the "new" seller were the same coin, that both listings say "what you see is what you get", and that they are the exact same coin as the previous one by the "old" seller, which I made her look up by item# and confirm that she saw that it was the exact same coin. I also told her to look at the old seller's history to see the three previous examples from past months and explained that this person repeats the same fraudulent description every few weeks. I told her that numerous people on a "coin community forum" were watching this seller and had repeatedly informed him/her that the coins are not the variety described. I pointedly asked if this was a violation of ebay terms and she said "Yes".

to md in guy, except that seller has 100% positive, and yes looks legit. as for the other guy, I think hes playing the game that what you see is what you get, means just that. if you want to bid on a not special cent, then its YOU who wanted it, he didnt force you to bid; and from eBays "swift" action on the matter I would have to think that they agree. as for the mis-description, I think he just figures he can play stupid and say I swore it was, or I thought it was pointed...oops ill try not to do it again. well lets hope he uses his home address on the package he sends it out in so someone can show up with the bad coins they got and the police. if there is a way to contact a bidder, (my stepfather used to buy non related things for his business and used a snipe), one bidder contacted him to ask if he could let the item go to him as he only needed the one for himself and then would be done with it. yeah anyways is it possible to contact a bidder and direct them here, so they can all get together and sue this guy? the other option is questions. does the seller have control of those? I saw questions asked and answered on a car auction on ebay. someone could ask, is that really pointed, because your pics appear to be a blunt one. actually there is another option. provided ebay doesn't pull the listing, every time you see one of these fraudulent coins, post your own listing of the same item. (the bidders should be checking for a better deal on the same coin). in the description say the other seller is a fraud and point out why, and not to bid because you dont have one to sell.
