I could see F-12 for it. That's about a $180 coin in a reputable slab. Yours is a bit crud-encrusted but I wouldn't change a thing about that; if you remove the crud, the surface below where it was will look artificially "bright."

I'm gonna throw down a F-12 maybe F-15. Is it just me or does it looked like the reverse has been cleaned? The entire "One Cent' area and fields look pretty worked. Also on the obverse - the left field under "In God" and through "liberty". No doubt about it though, this guy saw some commerce! Cool cent.

Wanna post a picture of your mashed potato cent too? Just because I've always wanted to see a mashed potato coin... :)

I thought about that, and decided it was "fingerprint polishing" from circulation keeping the commonly-touched parts of the coin cleaner than the periphery. Under sufficiently-bright light for imaging, that area will appear disproportionately bright. In-hand, the coin is probably closer to the same shade all over.

Makes sense for sure Dave. I was wondering why there weren't any surface marks if it had been cleaned. My thought was a pencil eraser.

F12 - Can you get a close-up of the date/MM area. Next time, try getting your shots directly over the coin instead of using an angle.

I'm @ F12. Other than gunk, appears unmolested.

Me too, grime and all.

DO NOT attempt to remove the grime! That coin is good to go just as it is.
