Hmmm...hard one to grade when not in hand. Wear on the wheat stock kernels or soft strike?

Everybody so far has said atleast AU and I agree with them. Nobody has guessed it right so far. I am going to post a picture of the slab in a few minutes.

Nice pick up Cris. If you link the original auction I believe most people will see it as XF, perhaps 45 on another day and definitely a good purchase.

It is more clear in the small picture to see the wear on the cheek and jaw than the big picture. XF40 is accurate. It is difficult to be XF45, which requires to retain 50% of the mint lust.

Brad...Since you have seen the original auction listing do you think my pictures may be misleading? I know this is not the coin photography section but it really confuses me sometimes. I finally start taking decent close up pictures that people can grade from and then people tell me they could see more detail in the picture of the entire slab....?
I really want to get this right because I value what everybody has to say here about coins I post.

There is a little wear on temple, cheek, and jaw. Might be worth a shot at a crossover if you can do it for a reasonable price.

Cris - I do think your pics a touch out of resolution and don't truly represent the surface characteristics. It's not that they're bad pics, just not as clear as those in the auction. This is a very nice XF coin but NGC didn't miss it by 10 or 15 points. From the ebay images it appears to have a shot at XF45 though and was a good buy. Good luck!

why send it to PCGS? No need to drink the kool aid. Its perfectly fine in its slab, you could send it to CAC if you want

Thanks for explaining Brad and I understand. No doubt about it I love the coin and I am going to leave it alone. I think I did all right at $675. As you know I love the 14d and this one highlights my collection so far.

Again, as mentioned, grading from pictures. I was actually going to grade this at XF45, but, label as a "dug" coin - the obverse looks like it laid on the dirt. NO OFFENSE to the coin, but it has too many brown/dark colors with the grainy surface.
