BadThad...I have just got lucky lately. I love finding these in good shape with the die cracks. This one cost me $20.

That looks like Weak-D Die 1. That's a fairly valuable coin. I might get that slabbed. For $20, you got it for a song. I think it's technically a Weak Reverse, so it might grade XF.

Ed...What kind of value would you put on it? I have been researching this a little more since you brought it to my attention. I really like the 22d Wheat cent. A lot of history there. |

I'm with Ed on this. My first thought was XF40 and then I saw the reverse which made me pause. I think a weak strike too. That's got to be the largest die crack I've ever seen on a Lincoln too. Crazy cool!

Nice! XF. I've seen die cracks in at least 4 reverse positions on these. I'll dig some up and post some pics. Super deal at $20.

Conner, I don't really know the value. It doesn't look like a typical 22-D though. The D is weak, and the reverse is weak too, with the die cracks. Check out this link http://lincolncentresource.com/1922...rieties.htmlit talks about the 7 different types. To me it looks like a Weak D Weak Reverse Die 1. I'm not sure of the value. Would be more valuable with no D, but I think I've seen these sell, slabbed, if I remember correctly, for $200+. Maybe do a little research on ebay for sold listings, or Maybe Heritage also. It's a nice one though, and the obverse is what (IMO) they are graded more heavily on, because the reverse is usually so weak. That's why I went with the higher grade. Hope this helps. Ed |
