That it seems like at least 95% of the people I've met over the years who collect coins are grumpy old men.
Where are all the single, attractive female coin collectors? I've yet to meet one.

I mean resent that Quote: Where are all the single, attractive female coin collectors? I've yet to meet one. Agreed,I think I have seen a total of 5 at the dozens of coin shows that I have been to in my day and one was attractive. John1

Ebay. I have to use them, but their programming is done by chickens. Latest peeve is when I click to see larger view and it takes me to a host where the view is the same size. While I'm at it, all the coins in the wrong catagory I have to sort through to get to the ones I want.

Other coin collectors. They keep buying and bidding up the price of the coins that I want.

The other has probably graduated college as I have not seen her in a few years. Wait, you said single. I wouldn't know one way or another.

The only thing worse than having a coin collecting pet peeve, is not having a coin collecting pet peeve.

Popular articles about coin collecting written by people who know nothing about the hobby. Just the other day I saw one that described the Buffalo nickel as being made out of copper, and then extolled the virtues of the "very collectible" 1963 Kennedy half dollar.

Getting a handful of coins in change, and not finding anything new to add to my collection.

I'm actually surprised that there's not many very attractive looking women at coin collecting. I do know a few gold diggers and here they could do so literally...
Anyway, a pet peeve is coin sellers trying to sell gold plated or silver plated as real gold or real silver. Or even brass as gold and copper-nickel as silver... I might be European, but I'm not stupid. :D
EDIT
Just thought about it. One thing I truly dislike here in Norway is how the philatelists shops also sell coin things (not that there's much choice, as the nearest real coin (more a precious metal also doing coins) shop is 50 km or 30 m from me) but treat it as an 'inferior' hobby compared to theirs.

I'm not sure in which part (or country) of the UK you are living, but I have visited two coin shops in London...

Bacchus2, according to the profile, is in Banbridge, which is in Northern Ireland (one of the four countries making the United Kingdom). I may find it difficult to believe that there are no coin shops in Northern Ireland, but that would not make it any less true.

Smart to check the profile! I do remember a coin shop in Dublin, Ireland, although it wasn't overwhelming and mostly about stamps. It's been a while since I've been to Dublin. It's not overseas, but still in a different country. I haven't traveled a lot to Northern Ireland, so I can't say much. Google gives 2 results on coin dealers in Belfast, but Street View shows that these most likely are some private people running things from their homes.

Yes, I'm in Northern Ireland and there are no coin shops here at all. There used to be a couple of antique shops that kept a few coins but they were more for decoration than anything. There used to be one in Dublin but when the owner died it closed down. Actually I got a lot of his Indian coin stock when it was liquidated by his heirs. There are a few stalls at markets that keep a few coins but thats it. Tyeres nothing that you would actually call a proper coin shop on the whole island that I know of.
