Honestly, it seems like a glassy surface. It's very peculiar, especially after the excitement of getting the dirty off then there's nothing. lol

The ebay seller's name: coinsrocksgems1

I was curious about that actually. They give a letter with all this garbage about leaving positive feedback. Do I just leave the negative or see contact them to see if they'll refund it?

If they accept returns, I'd just hit them up and let them know its on its way back to them due to it not being an accurate description. Get a tracking number.

If not, then I would try to show the pictures to them (if possibly they left an email) and BE SURE to contact them first. Once you leave feedback, they are going to be MUCH less friendly and more unlikely to work with you; Due to the constraints of changing feedback once it has been placed. Also, leaving them a message and letting them know you are returning them or ask if you can return them due to lack of quality and a false description you will have evidence that ebay might need in order to make a decision in your favor. This would come in handy if they said 'no' and you started an investigation through ebay Member Services. It sounds like a lot, but its fairly common in this business.

Hopefully this lot does not sour your taste of the Cleaning adventure.

I'd ignore fluff words like that, and buy by the picture. I've picked up a few lots of uncleaned and had some decent finds...I have a good semi-local seller on ebay who always E-mails me when he has a new batch in.

So have y'all returned uncleaned coins that you've started to clean already?

I haven't, but I don't believe you've changed the properties of the coin. In my opinion, allowing a coin to sit in water makes the coin the same as before. Just my opinion but a cull is a cull no matter what you do to it lol.

Not the best coins..... I wouldn't leave negative, as mentioned before I would get in touch and tell the seller your concerns. I am out of the country for the next 2 or 3 weeks, but when I get back I will message you, I can send you some small late romans to have a practice on and they will all have detail. free of charge, just cover the postage.

I guess technically if I've cleaned them then I should charge my labor & supplies for them. :)

I'll shoot them a message and tell them they're not premium. Thank you all for the advise.

And MetDet71, I'd love some practice coins. Definitely let me know when you have the chance.

I will definitely let you know, might be worth sending me a message as a reminder though.... as some here know, I do have a brain with holes in! I think Ben has been waiting 3 months now for some early British tokens ...

i never buy uncleaned coins unless I can see the a picture of all the coins...preferably front and back. I purchases some "premium" coins with a stock photo one time myself with a similar result...never again.

I'm startin' to think pictures of the actually uncleaned coins is definitely better than this guess work.

I contacted the ebay seller. More than anything I wish they would just adjust their marketing so it didn't say premium for the next dumb buyer, like me. They offered a partial refund. I've seen prior reviews where they have offered such and never give it. So I don't know.... darn turkeys.

Here's the actual listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/23103274932....m1439.l2649

There's plenty more offerings too! It's a company, not a small shop, from what I gathered by their letter.
