I am guessing between $200k - $300k, or perhaps even more if some grades higher, knowing you just collect and keeps upgrading as time goes by, you don't even consider selling any of it, but I think is a cost of concern anyone of us if our collection get into that stage. whoa! All the ones that were in slabs I've kept the little info tags and taped them to a sheet of paper at the front of the set. And the worst part of all this is after moving coins from set #1 to #2, #2 to #3, etc. I now have 12 Albums full. AND set #2 is catching up with #1 for all high grades and FSB's. Just can't stop. |

I would love to take a gander at the 45 you have in there. That coin in 65 FB is worth quite a bit of coin by itself.

I really, really, really don't think coins of this value and quality should be left in 'press in' albums.
I am definitely NOT a fan of slabbing, but in terms of preservation, a MUCH better way to go.
If it comes to selling out of your estate, there would be far more buyers of individual coins at this value level, than for the whole collection. That's when slabbing for the American market at least, can have real return value benefit.
Most would perhaps would disagree with me, but I would have them in Mylar / cardboard 2x2's in archival quality NON PVC album pages with the acquisition details of each coin written on the flip. Unfortunately, this is the least impressive and messiest presentation of such a nice collection, but at least, the coins are well protected.

Correction: Looks like slide windows are protecting the coins. Still not keen. If there are any loose particles, even tiny cardboard scraps that get between the windows and the coins, it can lead to hairline scoring, when the windows have to be moved for any reason.
IMO such albums are OK of medium value coins, but not for coins of THIS quality.

They are in Whitman Classic Albums and those are in doubled Zip Lock Plastic bags. As to selling out of my estate someday, I hardly think I'll care then. If sold separately or in bulk or just dumped into a banks coin counting machine, I will not know. And as to return value, again, not my concern in case of the end. It's only a hobby. Value should not be of a concern to keep it all in fun. Albums like this any many others I have are just for fun, no value is considered. Quote:Wow, what a great set! I love your attitude on coin collecting Carl, an attitude I strive to emulate;
even though you probably have a handful of individual coins which surpass the value
of my entire collection. It's all about the history and the enjoyment of the pastime.

At a coin show today I picked up a 1939S MS-63 with FSB's. Now that only leaves 5 more to go to make a completed FSB set. Getting really difficult to find the others I need.

I'd love to pick up half dozen 39S FSB in grade 63, but at least I can't locate these with prices according to numismedia.
