The coin has what would be called full luster for a a double Cud it would be classed as an MS 61 or 62. The lighting kills the luster

Wow, that had to make a noise when the dies came together. It is amazing that the die could stay together shattered like that. Nice addition to the EEEE's Noel

 Those dies cancelled themselves.

I'm thinking they probably didn't happen at the same time. The shape of the Cud is reflected in the shape of the weak area opposite the Cuds.

The clash episode is of this die pair, and there a few known without the letter transferred clash. Much like the other major E clashed double Cut Quarter. That one is a full Cud on one side and a very large deep Retained Cud on the other side about 140 degrees opposite of the full Cud. This coin is the ST-371 that I posted last year. On that one a clash line is noted but "no letter transfer" as the die is the die I think it falls into just the EDS of the clash as a good number are known where the E is not seen anymore.

bmanofnbc, an "E" clashed coin is where the letter "E" from one side of the coins dies transferred to the other die during a die clash episode. E clashed die pairs are very rare as far as letter transferred die clashes. There are 22 sub types in the Morgan dollar group and far less die pairs when you take out the die progression VAM's. This type of clash becomes far more clear when you look at the 1,000's of die pairs used and die marriages in just the Morgan dollars. To give you an example of how un-common this letter transfer is, there is 11 die pairs of Morgan clashed "E" coins currently known. There are over 300 "N" clashed pairs currently listed and over 200 S or T clashed known Just in the Morgan dollars. sEE the link below. http://www.vamworld.com/1891-O+VAM-1A1
