Quote: Im not long into silver collecting, may I ask how can I protect it from nicks and scrathes I'm using sticky tape at the moment but its not working that well lol I think there are to schools of throught for a pocket piece. First group is trying to wear the coin out. Second group wants to have a neat coin on their person that they can take out and show people. It sounds like you are in group 2 while myself and the OP are in group 1. If I were you I would get an airtite holder for the coin after you soak it in acetone to remove the tape glue residue.

Quote: silver surfer- How do I buy coins here without paypal Like on this site? You cannot until you've reached a certain amount of quality posts, it's all in the "rules". But once you do I think it's up to the seller... Some may accept other methods aside of PayPal, others won't. And ya, I agree on tape being a huge "no no"... Get an airtight or a Coin World slab for it.

Thanks man I will opt for the airtite, although they mint millions of ASE per year it is still very valuable to me, to think I have something that is made in the USA, its my pride and joy and people get so exited when I show them

That didn't take long. Anyhow, when you are done, you can get it certified about 30-40 years from now as a lowball morgan.

I dropped mine in the parking lot of a bank while picking up boxes of halves which added 3 heavy rim nicks. Another time it fell out of my pocket while I was on a creeper working under a car and the rim got scraped. The rim scrape is almost worn off but the rim bumps are still half there. Be sure to document your boo boo's so you can watch them wear down. Rim bumps at 1 and 3. What's left of the scrape at 1

I like the idea a lot, much more interesting than something like a silver eagle.

I retired my gold coin ring with a 1947 2 1/2 peso gold piece because one side is like new and the other worn almost to an ag condition. I bought it in Acapulco Mex in 1976 for $40. It was something I treasured like a pocket piece and I owned it to do with whatever I wanted. Gary

I wonder what grade it would receive at a TPGS (if it doesn't get a details grade).
