That's worse than Storage Wars were you are supposed to believe that no one from the public bid against the "pros" for a locker for $15 which only had a dresser in it but in the dresser was some $800 antique.
All of those shows are staged and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the coins would have been planted by the producers and they were told where to find them and what was in the ground there so when they pulled it out they could give an immediate history lesson on it to make them look like experts like on Pawn Stars

That show was such a let down. do any actual diggers act like 3 year olds when they make any find? I also bet the finds are planted. so much wasted potential with that show.

I did pump my arms in the air when I found an 1899 Barber quarter last year, but I've never plunged face first into a stream or hung upside-down from a tree.

What's the matter with all of you. Can't you see it is an O. Just that the O was made off a bit. That is a slightly damaged O from the famous O Mint. Sure wish I had on to put in that O empty slot in my Album.

One of them "found" a 1916-D Mercury dime in Kansas. I put found in quotation marks because I'd say it was more likely an S mint even though they briefly showed the reverse of the dime the area was worn I couldn't tell. The show did show a nice graphic of a D minted reverse. -MV

Hmm...mint mark aside, what else is wrong with the date? Either somebody at Nat Geo contrived the coin using photoshop, or this coin's a fake.

I only watch the show to see what they will make up. Now that is the best!

I watch the show...and yes I jumped around like a 3 year old when I find valuable things metal detecting. I don't trip and fall and roll around though. Would anyone watch it if they just dug up stuff and in a monotone boring voice say. Here I found a valuable 1909 D penny...

What's wrong with you people? Don't you recognize what this is? We've all heard of the 1909-VDB, but what many people don't know is that originally the VDB was put on the obverse, just below the date!
But then, due to a rare "double-filled" die, the "V" and the "B" got filled in, resulting in a 1909... D!
Hats off to National Geographic for showing us this wonderful, long-rumored-but-never-seen new rarity!
