Wow, nice-looking cracks! Late die state, I assume.

Makes you wonder how the die was still holding together.

Over the years, I've seen a number of these. That said, this one looks to be about the strongest of them. I imagine, that with some patience and a keen eye, one could assemble a die progression set of sorts.
Neat coin!

Very cool, was sitting in LCS bottom shelve for a decade.. There was multiple 1883 so this little guy was overlooked.. I real like this coin... I cant find a similar Au example to get a price range guess?

Beautiful die crack! So close to becoming a full on large Cud.

I'm guessing the reverse is the anvil die, making me think gravity and the collar were the only things keeping this one together. Even for an issue known for cracking - nickel was tough to strike back then - this one is an extreme case. Nice coin.

I love die cracks and this one is a beauty It's great that you rescued it from the bottom shelf and gave it a home.

Did the seller even point out that it had die cracks so it was special?

me and him both did see it but only seen the one by date on obverse so no premium and not the major entire huge one on back was buying for a album filler. Was not till I got home that I noticed it. I showed him a week latter he was surprised to see that as well.
