1883 V nickel No Cents Die Crack

I found this looking for a 1912-s to fill my album but I ended up picking this one up instead. As you can see it runs along most of the text and is present in multiple areas.

verse looks kind of normal at first glance

Makes you wonder how the die was still holding together.

Over the years, I've seen a number of these. That said, this one looks to be about the strongest of them. I imagine, that with some patience and a keen eye, one could assemble a die progression set of sorts.

Neat coin!

I'm guessing the reverse is the anvil die, making me think gravity and the collar were the only things keeping this one together. Even for an issue known for cracking - nickel was tough to strike back then - this one is an extreme case. Nice coin.

Love those die cracks. It would be awesome to track the progression. I thought I had one with similar cracks, but it appears to be different after inspection.
