Is the 1847 the overdate variety or what is going on here? It doesn't really look like what's in the RedBook. Thank you!

Well I don't believe there is an overdate 1847 but there are some repunched dates. There are three that show repunching over the top of the 7 N-2, 18, and 31. N-2 and 31 are from the same obverse die and that is the die they call large over small 7. Yours is N-18 a nice repunched date but not the 7/small 7. On the bright side the N-18 is a rare variety. The N-2, the usually seen 7/small 7 is an R-3 coin, the other two are R-5 coins.

I agree with Conder101. Your coin is N-18.
The N-2 is the more commonly encountered Red Book variety and shows the "small 7" a tad more pronounced and top left of the 7.

The first one is N-3, the second and third are N-1. Both are R-3 varieties.
