Here is a better picture. It's so darn shiny it's hard to get a perfect picture of it, but this one shows it's actual color much better.

Can you get a shot of the rim? Kinda looks like it was plated to me as well. Although I am NO expert.

Here is the rim, it's compared to a regular cent which is on the right.

Definitely a proof, nice find! I think a guy inherited/ received as a gift a 1958 proof set, and broke it open to cash them in. :(

I also just realized this is a milestone in my (albeit small) collection. This is my first coin with a mintage of under 1 million. Especially cool to get that kind of coin out of circulation instead of buying it.
Still can't believe I saw that poking out the end of a roll. Even though I've found multiple other proofs as well as several silver coins, I think this is the coolest thing I have found as a bank teller.

Try not holding it with your bare fingers. You don't want to leave fingerprints on that one.

Nice find. What is it about the rim that cleared it up for you?

Nice find.
What is it about the rim that cleared it up for you? I am thinking Dar confused the "edge" of a coin as its "rim." In proof coins, the edge is very sharp and well-defined compared to business strikes. In the picture, you can see the business strike with more of a rounded edge compared to the proof which has a clearly sharper edge.
