The bank I have used for the longest just recently started charging 15 cents per roll. I refuse to pay for money I'm simply exchanging. I moved to another bank and now use them solely as my dump bank.

Accounts with five different banks, never been charged in over six years.

If they want a surcharge, it's easy enough to move on to another institution that's free!

At least where I live nobody charges a surcharge, just a pure exchange.

My bank currently does not have a surcharge for buying coins, and I would not put up with it if they did. The way I see it, it cuts into any profit I could make on the coins I pick up.

If my bank did charge, I would tell them that if they make me pay, I'll just withdraw all the funds from my account and walk out (my pick up bank is also my main bank). I'd find some other bank that doesn't charge, and set up shop there.

One thing to keep in mind is that YOU are doing the BANK a favor if you have an account with them; they have free use of your money for whatever they need, loans, etc., so for them to charge a customer for coins is just a slap in the face IMHO.

That's what I thought, but I was living in the past.
Once you make a deposit at the bank, it's no longer your money, funny as it may sound!
It's now digits on a computer screen.

The banks now earn very little on your money. They generally take in small bills, and have to ship these to the Fed in return for large bills. This costs the bank money. Banks today have EXCESS CASH, and don't need your money...I did some research.

Ever tried to withdraw thousands of dollars in cash from your account? In most cases, the bank needs several days notice, they don't have your money on hand. Withdraw over $10,000 of YOUR money, and be reported to the IRS.

Ok, I kind of went on a rant there, I feel better now.

I get (only) Eisenhower dollars in my searching. but----

Slow ---

Spotty timing getting a bag.---

Some times wait up to a month to get a fresh bag---

My question to you is this. You said you go to more than one bank.

The only bank I go to, I have checking, savings, retirement acctount(s) etc etc.

Can you get a box of coins with zero relationships at a bank?

Thank you.

Just wondering how much would you be willing to pay as a surcharge to buy a box of coins from your bank/credit union?

John, I would gladly pay $4-6 to get a fresh bag of Ikes --- Provided I did not need to wait a month to get them.

I would gladly pay $10 a bag to get 3-4 day service on $10,000 in Ikes in one order.

I know most people on here dislike BoA, but they have never charged me for a box.

I am also a simple man with only one bank account, so I pull boxes from one branch and drop them off at others.
