VF-20 in my opinion. Obverse is a little weaker than the reverse, otherwise it might have a chance at xf-40.

Probably genuine. The face looks kindly "funky" like it's been rubbed and toned back a little differently from the rest of the coin. Also there is a slightly darker area in front of the nose that looks weird, too.

Without close pics, or seeing the coin in hand, it's tough to assign a grade. As of right now I'd just give it a VF Details grade.

Like I always say: Scarce coins on ebay, that are not in TPG holders, are still raw for a reason.

Good advice!

Although I think people want to believe they will find that one hidden $50 coin on ebay that turns out to be worth $5000.

The cotton bolls and leaves are barely F15 with a VF20/25 reverse. Way too much money for this coin imo. nlp

Thank you for everyone for your input. I think I will continue my search elsewhere.

First off, welcome.

Generally, I'd be very nervous about rarer raw Morgans sold online. However, this seller looks to be of a decent sort, and has a 14 day return policy, It may be worth a shot, depending on where you are in terms of your collecting savvy, and thus ability to distinguish definitively whether it's authentic or not upon receipt....

If you feel comfortable make some offers. If I were to buy it I would offer at detail price. HA has one coming up this weekend an NGC VF 30.

What would be a reasonable offer? If that offer is accepted, then do you advise getting the coin graded?

P.S. Since I am new, who is HA?

"HA" = "Heritage Auctions".

You can find them online at Ha.com. It is a great place to search recent prices for coins and paper money. You just have to register online.

Solid VF, easily a 25, shot 30. Nice coin from what I can see.

I would grade this coin as VF-20. cleaned-not sure.
The seller is at $580 with make an offer and I'm at around $400 or less. The retail for a certified VF-20 is in the mid $500 and so his starting price is little high unless he thinks it a VF-25 or better. The offer (I think) would be rejected for I'm asking for over 30% discount at my highest offer.
HA.com has these at auction all the time. May not be every week but I see them come up quite often. Just have a little patience and I'm sure you will find a nice one for your collection at a great price.
You can also try Stack's Bowers Auctions and Great Collections Auctions as well.

I'd say VF-20. It's not a bad deal if he accepts an offer 10%-20% lower than it is but you can do better.
