Thanks guys. If a moderator can move this thread to the proper section
I would appreciate it.

I am finding the red background helps me better pick up the true color of copper, but it is still not perfect. Also, I am holding the camera with my hands, and I am guessing that is not optimal. A tripod makes sense.
The PowerShoot is much better than my little Samsung, though, so I will keep practicing until my wife retrieves her camera.

Did you acquire those in the US and take them to Germany, or did you acquire them outside of the US?

Great looking collection.

Try putting some interesting items in the photo composition along with the coins, ala Helfenstein catalogue (first auction catalogue that had color photos) by Lester Merkin,

Something else to jazz up the photo possibly? Your EACs are

AMAZING COLLECTION!!

I personally like Westcoin's idea. I've always wanted to do something like that, but never really had the coins to do it. You, on the other hand, have the perfect opportunity.

I also agree with your conjecture over the red background. It looks a lot better.

Lovely coins ... I would be proud to own any of them!

To the photography ... I can offer no support there ...

Simply thrilled that you are sharing with us.

Thank you for all of your comments (both photography and coin related).

The cover of that Helfenstein catalogue looks superb.
Westcoins idea is a good one - I will see what I can do to find a suitable
background, which also helps highlight the various shades of copper toning.

In the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to use/set up the macro function on the Canon PowerShot SX200. I know this sounds basic to many of you, but I have not dedicated much thought to coin photography all these years. I cannot seem to find the manual for assistance, and was not able to find one in the web either...

You've got the coins and the artistic eye I believe. Maybe use some Large Cent books, Old time props, like the magnifying glass, ink well and pen, etc. I tried my hand at shooting piles of Gold and silver coins back in the film days some came out pretty cool, but I can't find the old prints or negatives, If I come up with them as I sort through my storage units I will be sure to post them. They were taken as I was just getting into photography and really had no clue as to what I was doing, but I remember a few shots were pretty neat.
