Could this coin be a proof-like?

I have looked at a bunch of PL's and this just doesn't have the same patina but the lack of small circulation/bag marks makes me a bit suspicious that it is a PL. I'll put up a few more pictures later today and maybe that will give enough information to make a determination.

Sharp outer rims of obverse and half of reverse makes me think it's a PL.

Here are a couple more pictures. I hope they are a bit better. One way or the other this coin is going to get an acetone bath to remove the PVC contamination.

If it's PL, the divot in right field will make it no better than PL-64. Not worth certifying in that case.

Looks like a proof to me, PL-64

I'm becoming convinced that it is indeed a PL. Not trying to minimize the reality of the coins condition but by the wonderful exaggeration of my great photographic technique what appears to be a horrible divot on her face is actually a fairly light surface scratch. Believe it or not.

This is a BUSINESS strike not a PL.

Pacificoin,
If the scratch on the obverse is indeed just a surface scratch and not a divot, would you, if you owned it, send it in for grading? Obviously, I'm not going to blame you if I send it in and it comes back as a low grade, but I would certainly like your opinion.

Bob no as ICCS just does not like obverse marks. As colonial said earlier an ICCS 60 is probably correct. Save the fees and continue the hunt. if you look carefully you will snag a super nice 1958 out of a coin dealers stock or at a show for 25 bucks or so enjoy the hunt!

I also think this is an MS example. It's a good looking coin other than the mark. I think 60 is harsh but 63 is likely depending how ICCS applies the formula du jour, 64 is not impossible. I've seen some noisy fields get graded pretty high by ICCS. Saing that, it's a common enough coin in high grades that in this market even at MS64 you'll max out at $40-$50 for an ICCS graded coin.
