echizento -

The mint mark is consistent with the example from Wildwinds.

Whether the coin is authentic or not is another matter.

Taking another look at the Wildwinds coin the "blob" on the labarum staff may be the branch on the staff on the Wildwinds example.

Quite a hard one to call from pics alone. My first thoughts are that it doesn't look like an original. It has very soft detail. Better pics, weight, dimension and probably a gravity result would be good.

The pic is blurry but it's probable that the solidus is just worn and not fake.

With the better photos I would also agree that it is an authentic solidus.

The AE on the end of REIPVBLICAE still looks funky to me, but that could be the work of the particular celator who cut the die.

OK, it's a legit MM. Glad to see Ras comment on this one. If he says it's legit that's good enough for me.

All of the best fakes are made from nearly pure gold. Modern 22 ct gold is commonly for this purpose.
The best way to detect a fake under these circumstances is to look for trace elements in the alloy, using X Ray Florescence analysis (XRF), and comparing the alloy mix against a known genuine coin of the same era and mint.

XRF is non destructive, and relavitely cheap to perform.

I would recommend having David Sear certify the coin as real. In the case of this coin considering at this point that it is real I would give it a grade of aVF.
