Heck, the envelope is practically collectable itself.

Agreed, there are far worse things the seller could have done.

I have not seen some of the stamps in years.

Could be worst, in the UK, I receieved a few shipments with customs duty due.

A few sellers I've bought from on ebay before used old stamps like these. There were no issues though and the envelopes were almost completely covered in old stamps when they arrived.

because he didn't put enough postage on this "parcel" because of it's rigidness.

Doesn't the nonmachinable surcharge take care of that? I don't know if would have made a difference if nonmachinable was written or stamped on the envelope.

It neat to get an envelope with all these old stamps. I am not surprised that people are paying for postage using these stamps. They can be found at a discount to face. A dealer at the antiques show in Brimfield, MA sells a bag with $100 of unused stamps for $70 and another dealer at a coin show sells them in smaller quantities for 80% of face.

I doubt there is enough room left for another $1 in $0.03 or $0.13 stamps!

I too think he just ran out of room for more stamps.
Have you considered putting that envelope up for sale on ebay?

I dealt with a seller that used a mega-pile of old stamps. Bought several coins from him and asked him 'what's up' with all the stamps. He said he gets them at his local stamp club for way less than face value.

I don't think the PO is 100% jazzed about it because it looks like they have to hand cancel them.

I can empathize, I've received some pretty amazing packages from across the globe. Some people have just tossed the coin into the envelope, others have wrapped them in paper towels, and I can't stand staples. I have gotten some really cool international stamps and I very carefully open the package and save the package. So hey, keep the package and enjoy it.
