The slab pages are bulky but it is far better aesthetically than having to dig out slabs from the blue boxes Dunno about the NGC boxes they are just crappy cardboard and quite flimsy

Regarding the PCGS and NGC plastic boxes. NGC boxes will fit either PCGS or NGC slabs without issue PCGS boxes will not fit NGC slabs. Well you can put NGC slabs in them, but the lids don't fully close. NGC boxes tend to cost a little more than PCGS boxes. Either type are offered frequently on ebay for pretty good prices. Especially if you're ok with purchasing them used.

Thank you for all of your responses. Those PCGS/NGC boxes seem quite attractive. Do they have seals of any kind?

The lids sort of snap into place.
You can see on the side, there is a little indent where the lid is held.

Check your local coin shows too, I often see them offered for cheap by dealers on Sunday that don't want to haul them home. I use Pelican cases #1600 stored in the home safe and either PCGS/ANACS boxes or cardboard slab boxes. My better slabs I place into the small fitting ziplock bags to prevent the plastic from getting all scratched up and hairlines.

@Canadian-Banknotes
He's probably referring to the cardboard boxes you get from NGC orders.

Here's a thought, since silicone can easily be peeled away after it has hardened, why not caulk around the seam of the box? If the slabs are just being stored and not viewed, this would ensure any environment issue would not penetrate the coins.

You would have to choose the right silicone as most (all?) contain nasties that are given off as smelly fumes as the silicone cures and those fumes will be trapped inside the box. The vinegar smell (acetoxy cure) produces an acetic acid byproduct and that is corrosive to brass and copper. Better to use gaskets made from silicone as they are already cured and permit the box to be opened. Are the boxes themselves 100% airtight or will gas molecules diffuse through microscopic pores? If you really wanted to store the boxes then purge them with inert gas and place in bottling jars,purge the jar and screw the lid on. If they can store peaches for years without oxidation then they will store coins as well.

Some I break free to put in albums with their friends, others are in an Eagle slab album with other slabs.
