I'm a bit suspicious about the darker toning around the tight spots but I can't see hairlines on it, even when I turn it around in hand. But it may be that I'm just inexperienced when it comes to spotting cleaned coins.

The word normally used to describe the look on the illustration is "woody". I believe it's usually attributed as "improperly mixed" as opposed to "separation during cooling". I've never heard of "liquation" either.
That said, I agree that this particular coin looks a lot like someone tried to clean it (OTOH, the direction seems to match on both sides, so it could just as well be a woody).

As far as I'm concerned it's a woody.
And as far as I'm concerned it's NOT been cleaned.
IMO the differential toning on the reverse is due to handling.

I dont think its a woody...I think it has been cleaned....look around the date side...look where a cloth can not get to...between the letters...the date...I am no pro, but if it was a woody, would you not get that sffect over the whole coin...IMHO

I would've said it's cleaned because of the tight spots.
but the 1956 penny that pennyman posted looks more like a woody ( I think )

Woodys always show all the way from one edge of the coin through all facets of the coin, to the other side. I have never seen a woody from that era of Canadian coin, but look at the example posted by pennyman, this is exactly what woodies look like.
I am sorry to say that your coin, was cleaned.
