What is odd is that you can usually find the pl set for less than what the coin is worth. I am not sure why.

One thing about the 92 quarter...at least there was one produced alongside the commemoratives of that year. With the Statehood Quarter plan in the USA, the regular eagle quarter ended rather that being produced alongside the commemoratives. |

I have 3 from circulation because of my Dad's advice and 2 in sets. The last few I saw sell on ebay went from 11 to 15$ I was living near the Ottawa at the time. |

@lyradnoj, There were no regular US quarters during anytime of the Statehood Quarter program...not even in mint sets. Canada has it right though! :) |

Found one in my wife's spare change jar . Passed on a roll,
at a club auction for $100.

459,000 1991 quarters were struck for circulation.
148,000 for PL sets
68,500 for specimen sets
132,000 for proof sets
That`s about 800,000 in total.
All are grossly overvalued IMHO
The non-circulation strikes are no rarer than many other dates
Circulation strikes were hoarded by dealers and collectors,there`s more than enough to go around
There is no circulation strike caribou for 1992, all are PL, specimen, or proof strikes.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Except in 2012 & 13 we had commemorative quarters, they still did the caribou, in significant numbers, which wasn't nice to the collectors market.

There are both commemorative and caribou circulation strikes in every year 2004-2013, as well as 2002.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Been looking for a circulation 1991 caribou since I found out about the low mintage in 1996. Haven't found one yet.

All combined is what I remember. The 1992 is actually lower in total.

I don't have my Charlton at hand but as I recall the 2006P cent, which is a comparable low mintage coin, had 225,000 struck. It sells for $3 to $7 so the quarter to me seems overvalued. Plus I think there are more cent collectors than quarter collectors. The counter argument would be that in the late 2000s there were many cent varieties so, while this cent is scarce, it is easy to find a 2006 of another variety if you are just trying to fill the date hole.

I had searched for last couple of years from $500 quarter boxes and finally found one in circulation. Years ago I had bought an UNC one from the LCS for about $10 but I treasure the found one much more.

what a low mintage! even a lower mintage than the 1909-s vdb! (1909 s vdb age is why it's more valuable)
