you don't want an android update, you want 4.0 or lower, not kitkat.... you wont be able to access your money if your data is stored on your SD card.

A cashless society is coming, and it will be world wide. Just a matter of time. I can't even begin to speculate how long before this happens. Just my personal belief.

It will happen the same day that the dollar coin lobby "donates" more money to Congress than Crane and the zinc industry combined.
If this ever happens people will embrace the $2 bill at first but its usage will wane over the years. Initially there will be nearly half as many two dollar notes in circulation as one dollar notes are now. People will want a two dollar coin in a few years.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Lol Jbuck. I agree, 4.4.4 is fine. Something happened to my ability to play flash on a few sites, but MX Player fixed it for the most part. Shadz, when I said an "Android upgrade", I meant upgraded TO the Android OS, not a version update LOL  Give everyone 2.0 for all I care. (Then I'll liquidate all my bullion into PayPal stock)  Edited by CopperCastle

I totally understand your personally bored with what we have now, and would love a whole bunch of changes, But the simple fact is that the majority of the country doesn't feel the same. I suppose that is why when they were suddenly faced with all the changing State Quarters they rejected them and the program quickly died. Everyone is always telling me that even change for the sake of change is good and I disagree in everywhere except money. having change for the sake of change means more coins to look to find something! maybe it will happen, not anytime soon though, the us populous shows little to no interest in dollar coins. why would they change something that is universally accepted anywhere in the US, easily recognizable anywhere ? try to see it from a non - coin collector point of view.

What I've been saying for a long, long time. Even now people are starting to use their cell phones to do monetary transactions. Computers will translate one country's money to others. Every where you go will soon all be paid for electronically. It will take time but that is the future of money. Just all gone. |

Pne other factor to consider is that urban areas are a lot different than rural. I am not in what most people consider a city, but it is a populated area. I can say that change - including pennies) are still in common use. Yes, people pay with cell phones, but there are a LOT of people who do not. Its not like NYC, I am sure.
I also don;t like the idea of every time I go to a garage sale, electronically paying. I know they do it in the name of national security, but I think its bad enough banks report any bank transaction of 10K or more (not that I have to worry about such things!), and only see a cashless society of the government then finding an excuse to keep track of every dime I spend/own to make sure they get their cut.
Having said all of that - back to the topic. Coercion will force the public. But the government in the US is supposed to be made of people we elect to make laws be what we want them to be. To force people to use something the majority of people say they don't want, is misuse of powers (aka look at D.C. issues now).
If the people want it, and elect people who will vote the way they want, then it should be able to happen. But since the government is supposed to work for the people (OF the people, BY the people, FOR the people)- not the other way around, they need to do what We the People elected them to do.

Very simplistic way of looking at how things get done by elected officials. In reality, the cash contributing lobby is the squeaky wheel here...not the voters. I don't remember voting for keeping the $1 bill...never will come up for a vote.
I am sure the supporters of dumping the $1 bill have expressed their desires to their elected officials but they are in the EXTREME minority when put against the campaign cash crowd....
It is just not on most peoples' "big deal" list

That's why we still have silver coins, and unlimited speed limits for driving our great big cars with no seatbelts or airbags. No vaccinations for our kids before the can go to our segregated schools (That is if we even let our slaves go to school) etc etc etc. Sorry but sometimes we do have to be coerced. |
