Quote: I have yet to see a proof coin in AU that had enough eye appeal for me to want to spend the money on, but it's certainly worth keeping an eye out for.
Well, let's just call this set "complete for now." Maybe someday I'll be able to add a 20 cent piece and a dollar to the collection.
Hey, I was just throwing that out there since you sort of asked the question. The set you posted is complete enough for me to be majorly jealous, and I certainly wasn't trying to detract from it.
OK, I tried shooting a brief video showing the reflectivity of the coins. Unfortunately, it got horribly compressed when I uploaded it to YouTube, but hopefully you can still get the general idea:
I collect only Seated Liberty halves, I just love the design. Very nice Half you have there! The dollars are quite expensive, but I bet if you search a few online auctions outside of ebay, you could very well find one for a reasonable price. It may take you awhile, but I think it would be worth it!
Speaking of the 20 cent piece and the Trade dollar, I wonder if anybody makes a point of collecting William Barber coinage? Obviously there are many folks who collect the coinage of his son Charles and Longacre's stuff.
Yeah, I would also love to own a proof TD. The symbolism of the coin is fantastic to me as an historian. As, of course, is the similar symbology in the Morgans.
From one seated proof collector to another, Bravo! Those are some very nice coins indeed. Looking forward to the day you find that dollar that speaks to you and you're able to share it with everyone here.
