Nice coin. What is on the right side of the "C" in cent on the reverse?

It could be anything from a spot on the coin to a piece of lint on the holder. If I were to even consider buying it I'd ask for more pictures first.

There are online retailers with MS64 in the $2k+ range, and some MS65 at $3k, $4k, $5k, and some at $6k.

Looks like it's fresh from a Mint roll. Amazing for being 106 years old.

RedBook states that a MS63 is valued at $2,000.

I would settle for one in G-4! 6k is way too much in my opinion. Still drooling though

MS65+, note the +. And RD. And I agree. 6 grand is full retail IMO. That is a primo coin right there.

Lovely indeed ... a bit overpriced.

I have a PCGS MS65RB/CAC example that was purchased in the $3K range ... just as lovely for a lot less $

The step between 65 and 66 is steep for this one, plenty of room for a 65+ to be a $6k coin considering that doubles again into 66. It's also possibly the single largest instigator of auction fever in numismatics, and examples shoot for moon money all the time.

But no CAC? A bit pricey I think.

Well, for this kind of money I'm calling anything less than a superlative coin a SNAD and forcing a return.

Seriously, though, absolute right to refusal once in-hand. This better grab you by the throat for the money. I'm not terribly worried about the lack of a bean on this issue; the owner demographic is different and I bet CAC has seen relatively few. I should back that up with research. Interesting question.

PCGS shows 835 in 65 Red, 9 in 65+, 190 in MS66 Red and 11 each in 66+ Red and 67 Red. Of those (and also including NGC coins) CAC shows 85 green beans in 65 Red and 25 in 66 and 2 in 67. CAC ignores Plus grades and combines the NGC and PCGS coins in their report. The last two trades of MS65+ Red PCGS pieces according to CoinFacts were $5,581 and $5,795.

I make it professional practice not to comment on other dealers' prices. But the price does jump a lot in MS66 Red.

Best Regards,

George
