I know the seller - the coin is for sale for $180 - any takers? If I get one of the type, it will be cheaper and have better reverse details than that one.

I have a dated Kumaragupta coin coming, can't remember the date but that might help with the 450s which will be equally tough. If we can get to the 420s it'll be smooth sailing until the classical Greek era!

450s are easy: Marcian. Remember that we don't require a dated coin, just one with a sufficiently narrow date range.

440s and 430s might be trickier. I think a dated Kumaragupta coin would probably fall in one of those though.

Yep, I've got the 430s covered this way.

Wow Steve!...What a rare little coin!
Do you have a reference for it?
I'm assuming it has Ricimer's Monogram ?

ps...Have sent a couple of pm's?

Thanks Paul!

Indeed rare - and pricey! The reference given for the type is RIC 2715-2717, and the monogram does indeed belong to Ricimer, who was the puppet-master for most of the West's last emperors.

Well done @finn! That is super news--feels like it has been years since we last had movement on this thread. Tomorrow we can start with coin minted in the decade of the 450s!

I wonder if we could get a few more decades in before the next edition catches up...

Thanks all!

As discussed earlier, 450s are easy thanks to Marcian who ruled from 450-457 and produced these common monogram coins

I will have to do some searching through my bags of random LRBs to see about the 440s and 430s, but I think it's smooth sailing from here until the early Hellenistic era!

Very nice Marcian Steve!
As you know even though this type are reasonably easy to acquire they are usually not in as good a condition as your example!....Lovely monogram and super portrait....Great looking coin!

Looking forward to seeing what comes out of your LRB bag...

Another day and another decade of progress. Well done again @finn. I've got nothing for the 440s, but can chip in again when we hit the 430s.

I thought I had one but can't seem to find it - Theodosius issued a relatively scarce monogram coin only during the 440s, before he died in 450. Does anyone have one?

@finn, if you are up to posting your previous two coins from this thread into the v2.0 thread here: https://www.coincommunity.com/forum...IC_ID=306045
then that thread will officially catch this one and we can shut this one down in favor of making our progress on the newer one. Thx!

Bump!

@finn, if you post your last two coins over on the v2.0 thread then it will catch up to this one.
