Anyone else get one with all these coins which I thought were sold out. I guess RCM found some in the basement. Bunch of marketing scammers they are with their false demand.

Mostly the returns are from flippers who couldn't make enough of a profit or any for that matter, so they return the coins and get their money back, then RCM puts them back up for sale.

From being in the retail biz, I am pretty sure that some if not all of the big coin retailers (especially CP) have an agreement called a guaranteed sale. which means that whatever the retailer cannot sell within a specific time frame, they have the option of sending back.

This is why after months of being out of stock, they "Find" some items.

I have put requests in to Canada Post in the past for sold out coins, that are possibly available at other CP outlets. It works sometimes. If it says sold out at the Mint, check the post office for the actual coin and if not in stock, ask them to do a search of outlets. They will let you know if successful. I have also found archived sets at CP, one a 2012 Doubled Toonie and Loonie set, sitting there at a discount. I like to go to really rural post offices and see what they have. Picked up a 2011 uncirculated set for 20% off in 2014.

What's wrong with 1/2 price Northern? Not enough savings at 50% of cost?
I've seen people freak out about the same Sears flash sale, same type of product.
That is the exact deal I am seeking out in the rural CP's.

Its not the 50% off thats the issue, 50% off is good but the 2013 wedding set in 2015 is not so good. Cant very well give a 2013 Wedding gift to people getting married in 2015 I wouldn't think.

Plus my point was that in 2 years that was all that they had "discounted" where other post offices in say GTA have all kinds of discounts or at least it appears that way , YingYang is always getting deals, I don't think any came from a rural PO, plus the gas it would take to travel around would must likely cost more then you would save from the few discounts they might have.

That said, the thought has crossed my mind, make a trip out of it , plot your travel route to post offices, could be fun...

Did anyone else order any of the 2014 50 cent rolls when they were available again after this email? I ordered two rolls but just got an email saying that due to a production issue they are unable to fulfill the order.

You can pick up some rolls at coin dealers at issue price I would imagine, with 25k mintage , there certainly isn't going to be a shortage of them.

The 2014 roll had a 20k mintage, not that it makes much of a difference. Yeah I just checked Gatewest and they have them for sale at issue price. I had bought one roll when they originally came out and then decided to buy a few more when I got the "back in stock" email just for the sake of it since they did sell out. The email I got saying that they were unable to fulfill the order due to a production issue seemed odd though, they mentioned I would be given a 2015 roll at no charge. It had all my info including order numbers and stuff though, just didn't seem like an "official" mint email.

Ok it was the 2014 20k rolls, I thought it was the 2015, so ya its sad that the 2014 20k mintgae rolls come back in stock now, blows my mind why they made the 2015 rolls with 25k mintage and they can even sell out the 2014s with 20k mintage. I just don't understand the RCM, I stopped buying the 50 cents rolls this year, I had enough of their increased mintages.

If you like it - get at least one. Who knows, might be you'll decide to make in future 50c set, or just give coins to the kids.

by the way, mine 2-nd grader recently told me, that they learned "count the money (coins)" and of cause, the 50c has been skept without mentioning. I shown him the coin, and the kid was surprised.

so...even buying for issue, it is tiny loss compares to face value.

I just started buying these rolls in 2013, looks like I started at a bad time. Looking back at the 2010 special wrap rolls with a mintage of 6000 and issue price was $5 lower, it looks like it was a much better deal back then. I will probably still continue to get one roll from here on, but just one.

If that was the case we would have seen the coins back on the RCM much sooner than one year later.

People who want to return coins because they changed their mind only have 30 days to do so. Since it is such a long time since the coins were sold out it can't be from flippers.

More likely they are returns from dealers.

Dealers CANNOT send back unsold stock to RCM it is not done that way ask any authorized dealer they will tell you they are stuck with stock why else would they mark down coins so much they are trying to get some of their money back otherwise they would send them all back and there would be no sales.

If not dealers, could they be from corporate Canada Post Offices? I am not talking about franchises like Shoppers Drug Mart or gift shops but Postal Stations A, B, C.... Like the one in the Main Post Office in Vancouver on Georgia St. and Bentall Center.
These places are stuff with coins. They can't possibly sell them all.
