Can you post a picture of the other side? Is it equally as weakly struck? Or is this a strike through only on the reverse?

I love your enthusiasm, Vick! It's great to see someone enjoy this great hobby of ours as much as you do! I, too, would like to see a picture of the coin's obverse -- I believe that an actual weak strike would show a similar lack of detail on both sides, due to the fact that you can't have 2 different measures of pressure pressing the coin at the same time.

thanks for acknowledging pennysaver! In addition, I have heard that sometimes the press is not calibrated properly and by the smallest measurement it can be out to produce these weak struck coins! Often the dies become either filled or worn, this could be the case.
The really fascinating piece is from 1964. It is very hard to distinguish on a circulating coin, as you may presume!

1960 and 1962 had strong "missing fur" beavers as well, and 1961 and 1963 showed signs of it too. Even a few from the early '70's had it. It would be neat to collect the whole set!

I have arisen. And I see someone changed the title to "Furless Beaver on Nickel" I LOL'd because I saw earlier posts mentioning this. Heres pics of the obverse: Compare with: She's missing hair. It's a lot more pronounced in person but she's missing hair, especially above her ear. Not only is this balding beaver, it's also a balding Queen! I'm so glad I didn't open this from the mint plastic. Is there any value to this coin considering it is still sealed in the plastic? ----- Off topic but check out this cool keychain I bought the other day from some tourist trap in Niagara Falls :P The closest thing to a 2013 Penny.
