jimbucks, I learned from Bill Bugert about the 1871-CC one sided proof half dollar and Randy Wiley was gracious enough and let me use a picture of the coin he once owned for an article that I submitted to our club journal Curry's Chronicle.

I owned a nice original surface 1885-CC in VG-10 for awhile. They are out there but tough to find in nice shape, CC. Many of them were cleaned back in the days when 1885-CC was big rarity. Keep looking and you will find one. There is only one other Morgan that rarer in VG than 1885-CC, IMO...1903-O.

I have been thinking about doing a CC set. Is there a year where the CCs run throughout the coins? Dime,20c,quarter, half dollar dollar and gold cc?

Quote: I've always wanted to own a CC coin of any variety, was thinking dime to start for the affordability Any CC dime from 1875 to 1877 should be affordable as they had high mintages. The 1876 and 1877 CC quarters also had fairly large mintages and shouldn't be too expensive to acquire one.

Carson City coins certainly do have appeal. I have managed to add a few to my collection, but still missing a nice half like vermontesium shows.

I have 32 issues of the Curry's Chronicles journal from 2005 - 2015. I'm trying to downsize some of my collecting paraphernalia and was wondering if there is anyone who might be interested in these Journals.

Yeah, it was a great club and publication while it lasted. Each issue of the Curry's Chronicles always had many interesting articles. I'll sell these for a reasonable price, plus shipping.

I've spent decades gathering up a few, but have slowed way down. Worn examples like these have pretty much disappeared, and the price of gold has made them unaffordable. They cost way less than current melt. The latest additions have been PL and DMPL Morgans and Trade dollars when I find them.
