Maybe if you have only a fixed amount of money per month or how ever long you could save it up and buy enough at a later date for free shipping, if I had waited I could have bough a lot more silver with the price drop since I started buying.

As said many times before, "free shipping" is never free.
I'd also strongly consider buying better 90%. It's good silver and the markup should be minimal. If it's not, you'll know where you're paying for that shipping.

free shipping is a joke. JM silver is certainly not going to get any orders from me, because I dont want to drop $100 on silver at one store at one time.

At the top of JM Bullion's web-site it says all orders ship free.. but if you use paypal then they jack the price up per coin or bar.. just me but I look at there best prices and the other as well and I go to ebay and try to buy with a bid at there best price or lower with free shipping.. so far I been buying from Scottsdale mint on 10oz bars.

JMB has been just fine for me. I do believe you have to spend at least $100 with them to qualify for free shipping. But... that shouldn't be a problem, really, if you're investing. If you can't drop $100 at the drop of a hat, adjust your investment budget to only pay when your buffer reaches $100 or more.
Also they do weekly sales for spot + less than 1 dollar per ounce. If you're investing that's a great deal with the free shipping.
With them I've done paper checks to save the Credit Card / PayPal fees and while it takes 10 days or so... so what?
I'm not affiliated in any way with them (other than buying their product). Just telling you my experience. Would and WILL buy fro them again.

I see some really weird complaints about JM Bullion on here that I just can't wrap my simple little mind around. Yes, $100 is what it takes to get their free shipping and I really don't think they deal with anything less than $100. Honestly, if you can't take the smaller amounts of money you would normally spend and set aside until you have collected $100 then maybe you've got a hole in your pocket. ebay is ok but I fear a lot of stuff on there is fake. Sure, they have an anti-fake/counterfeit policy but what a pain it is for you if you have to reship, fight with a seller, etc. For anyone that hasn't had to do that yet, let me say that it's an extreme hassle and pain. You'll get your money back but sometimes it costs a bit of your sanity in the end. My favorite is the person who complained about JM Bullion "jacking up the prices" when using a credit/debit card (which every online precious metal dealer does) only because those cards end up costing money for the dealer when used. Pawn shops, coin shops, etc all enjoy cash more than credit because it gives them more money and they can return the discount onto the buyer. Then you go on to mention the scottsdale stacker piece as what you purchase... dude, have you seen how much scottsdale jacks up their prices per oz on all of their products? They're like the highest priced precious metal dealer out there. Yeah, their products are cool but that's more of a place for someone who is collecting coins/rounds/bars for the look rather than the precious metal content. I feel like I'm trying to fight for JM Bullion...but I'm really not. I just think some of the concerns here are silly.

If you can find a better price/oz out there, I'm all over it.

I like Provident myself over JM .. but I buy from Scottsdale mint when I can as from ebay as I can get a better deal there then from there website and still comes from Scottsdale.. that 10oz stacker bar they make is really worth having and I like some of those coins they do as well.

I've ordered at both APMEX and jm.. I'd have no problem recommending both. I was extremely satisfied with APMEX customer service when I was making a return. They even sent me free label even though my return portion put me well below free shipping and they processed it really fast.

Any online PM dealer who expects to stay in business is going to both have good customer service and competitive pricing.
Ag spot is falling and JM has some 5 oz bars on sale for spot + .89 / oz for any quantity. Can't complain about 10 oz for under 170 at the moment.

I got my silver Libertads from JM this year, they had 6 of the 7 fractional/multiple sizes, so I went with them this year as they were a couple of bucks cheaper than APMEX. Provident is still my bullion dealer of choice, but JMB seems to have a wider product selection than PM. I totally understand about the financial constraints, TheForce. I was there myself at one time and your financial situation should improve once you advance in your career. Back in the day I could only afford the occasional ASE at the LCS and this was when Ag was $7-$8/oz. Now I put away 15-20oz/mo and just stack away. The options for stacking are so much greater than 25 years ago.

Quote:I think JM Bullion is missing out on potential buyers by instituting a $100 minimum order. I'm just a casual buyer/collector. My budget usually don't allow that much so I tend to only get 1 or 2 coins at a time. It does look like that have decent prices. I am unable to even check out if there isn't at least $100 in my cart. It is too bad really. I fully agree with you. This is why I buy most of my silver from MCM, which overall offers very competitive deals, even when compared to what JM Bullion offers. MCM also ships internationally and accepts payment from non-US PayPal accounts, which is a huge plus in my experience.

I find MCM to be a bit more expensive than JM Bullion. When I've ordered form JMB, the items arrive within 3 days. MCM takes a week or more. Silver.com, which is a JMB subsidiary, isn't bad either. But free shipping with silver.com is at $3000. I have no clue why JMB and silver.com are so far apart with their shipping costs, especially being owned by the same people. I do like Provident Metals and find they're competitive with JMB. When I buy from either, my order is usually over $100, so that isn't an issue with me. With Provident, I can e-check my order to save the 4% hike over debit cards. Every little bit of savings help out tremendously. BGASC.com is competive too. But living in California where BGASC is located, I'd have to pay sales tax (if under $1500) on my order, 9.25%.

TheForce, on page one you mentioned that you don't want generic bullion because you want it to be backed by a government. If you buy from and sell to refineries you should never have a problem with the authenticity of your bullion if that's what you're worried about. I suppose when you sell to or trade with strangers that it becomes an issue? Bullion is bullion, it doesn't matter what design is on the metal.
