I don't know, because I sent in 2 of the same coins and only one came back like that. One was the F12, and the other one was this. I believe I paid $50 for a year subscription? which included 2 free grades. Please let me know if the pictures don't come out. I just sent off 4 through my dealer here the other day. Some CC's and maybe an S, I don't remember now. Thanks!

I see them. There is one on ebay just like yours details but lower grade at good asking $120ish. So I would think you have a $100-150 coin. Congrats!... also, the other one wasn't slabbed as a VAM because ngc only slabs vams that are on the top 100, hot 50, or hit 40 VAM lists. Only big TPG that will look for and slab for all vams is anacs

There are some varieties so popular that the TPG's automatically attribute them, like the 3-Leg Buffalo. This may be one of them; it's certainly top-tier in terms of popularity. Not a value-added variety below Mint State, because enough higher-grade examples exist to satisfy current demand. A definite long-term keeper, though.

Thanks for the information guys! I really appreciate it. I hadn't planned on selling off any of my slabs, I honestly did it on a whim, since I'm not a huge numi guy, I just wanted to experience the process a few years ago, and took a shot. On an unrelated note, the only slabbed coins I wanna get rid of is this stupid first strike ms70 2011 panda, I guess there are tons of them, and I didn't know when my LCS guy gave it to me for about $60 worth of silver. He also gave me a slabbed NGC 2003 First Flight PF 69 Ultra Cameo, for like $40 in silver. It's a coin of Orville and Wilbur Wright 100 year anniversery coin. Not really my thing. But back on topic. You guys are extremely helpful. So certain VAM's are popular among collector's and such? I had no idea, and like I said I've been collecting mainly bullion for around 5 or so years. Man, at the other site I used to go to I would've been steam rolled and called an idiot, feels good here!

Morgans are a hugely popular issue with collectors as it is, and numismatists seek varieties. It's what we do.

Some of the die varieties found in Morgans are really stunning visually. Seek images of the 1888-O Hot Lips, the Rusty Fish Hook, Sextupled Stars, Donkey Tail....

There is naked-eye doubling of almost the entire reverse, near-complete alphabets of letters clashed onto the fields, bisecting die cracks and breaks you could drive a loupe through.

And the 1921's. They're enough to spend an entire career on. People are, as we speak, spending entire careers on 1878-P's.

I particularly like the 1890-CC Tailbar.

You hit it stacker. This place is great for the uneducated. In the last month or two I have learned more than the last few years... p.s.- I may be interested in the silver you want to get rid of but you may be too new here for us to deal right now? I tried sending u an email but couldn't?

He may not have chosen to enable his Forum Messaging yet, Cascade. I know you mean no harm but I have to mention we really frown upon any discussion of commerce in the open Forum. The reason learning is easy here is because that is our mission, to educate new collectors. It is expected of Coin Community members to either learn or teach. Our rules are strict as a result, and permission to engage in commerce here has to be earned.

It's all spelled out in the rules.

Not sure...my Morgan collection has taken a beating lately with the bust half fever in full swing. I've reduced it to a date/mintmark set. Those were the two that I just couldn't sell.

VAM'ing Morgans can be fun. I enjoyed it when I did it. Similar to doing Overtons on CBH's.

Forgot..my 1879-CC is the capped die variety.

My first question is, how did you get NGC to attribute a variety for free? They charge extra for that.
For this particular VAM there is no fee. There are several other VAM's for which there no additional fee. You are correct for the vast majority there is a $15.00 fee for the Variety Plus attribution label.
