Yup. How does one come into so much US coinage at a Canadian bank, or vice versa? I work as a bank teller in the US, and we are to refuse any foreign coinage of any kind. We are not allowed to have any in our tray or drawer.

Ah, that's nothing. Last year on this date I went to my bank and picked up 10 Gobrecht dollars, three $4 gold Stellas and the 1849 double eagle.

April fool's. At the end he said not bad for paying spot prices, face value for these silver coins is much less than spot.

Not a single Canadian coin in that list, contains any silver...

If someone ever finds my bank, they will need a forklift to get all the nickel 50c and nickel dollars out...

I always ask for SD and 50 cents, I have been offered several times USA dollars and halves, so it is quite possible.

I have purchased for face value a 1997 proof silver dollar, as well as a number of pre 68 SD and halves, so asking is not a stupid thing.

I just saw all the replies from my post. Although it was on April 1st, IT IS TRUE that I got all these coins for face value.

Wow, congrats! That's an awesome haul.

I'm jealous - wish I could find Canadian coins like that here in the US.
