I found this in a box of old miscellaneous stuff. I don't know anything about it other than it is from Detroit. And the cent does not smell like anything, btw (yes, I did smell it. Everyone does when you show it to them). I thought I would post it because I think it is interesting.

There was a company named Penny Lane Perfumes. It could of been a promo item for them.

The "trick" is it probably smelled like rotten eggs originally is my guess. More of a gag than a trick

I would think that back in 1952 it did smell but those days are long gone. I don't think they really ment forever.

I'm curious to what the reverse looks like. I once peeled off a cent that was glued to paper and it a really cool toning pattern on the reverse. Then again, you'd have to destroy the "cool factor" to see.
