Today when I went to my local bank,
I always ask if they have any silver dollars, 50 cent pieces etc etc,
except this time, the girl at the counter said they just got some in without me even saying anything...

To my surprise, she said they had over $100 of both dollars & fifty cent pieces of both US & CANADIAN currency, which I scooped up...

When I got home, I went through them and found:

----------US CURRENCY------------
1 -1972 Eisenhower dollar
1 -1976 Eisenhower dollar

1 -1934 Walking Liberty half dollar
1 -1942 Walking Liberty half dollar

1 -1949 Ben Franklin half dollar
1 -1958 Ben Franklin half dollar

8 -1964 Kennedy half dollar
1 -1965 Kennedy half dollar
6 -1966 Kennedy half dollar
8 -1967 Kennedy half dollar
6 -1968 Kennedy half dollar
4 -1969 Kennedy half dollar
16 -1971 Kennedy half dollar
1 -1972 Kennedy half dollar
3 -1973 Kennedy half dollar
6 -1974 Kennedy half dollar
3 -1976 Kennedy half dollar

-----------------------------------------

--------CANADIAN CURRENCY----------

2 -1969 Nickel Dollar
4 -1971 Nickel Dollar
2 -1973 Nickel Dollar
2 -1974 Nickel Dollar
2 -1975 Nickel Dollar
2 -1976 Nickel Dollar
4 -1979 Nickel Dollar
10 -1980 Nickel Dollar
32 -1981 Nickel Dollar
9 -1982 Nickel Dollar
37 -1984 Nickel Dollar

1 -1968 Half Dollar
5 -1969 Half Dollar
2 -1971 Half Dollar
1 -1976 Half Dollar
1 -1979 Half Dollar
1 -1981 Half Dollar

...A great score for paying spot prices for the amount of silver I got today!!

Remember to ALWAYS ask when visiting your local bank!!

Yup. How does one come into so much US coinage at a Canadian bank, or vice versa? I work as a bank teller in the US, and we are to refuse any foreign coinage of any kind. We are not allowed to have any in our tray or drawer.

Ah, that's nothing. Last year on this date I went to my bank and picked up 10 Gobrecht dollars, three $4 gold Stellas and the 1849 double eagle.

April fool's. At the end he said not bad for paying spot prices, face value for these silver coins is much less than spot.

Not a single Canadian coin in that list, contains any silver...

If someone ever finds my bank, they will need a forklift to get all the nickel 50c and nickel dollars out...
