My ears were ringing... someone mention my name? Who needs what?

Ahhh the GSR is being discussed... certainly one of my favourite topics...

In short.... sell silver when the GSR is around 80... buy gold.... sell gold when GSR is around 40 and buy silver..

You should really only be doing swaps when you have a large accumulation small stacks can get eaten up in the fees.

I like those 10oz Scottsdale stacker bars as there small but pack some weight..

Also you take the spot price of gold and divide it by the spot price of silver.. as todays prices say 73 oz of silver = 1oz of gold as you want the lowest number for silver to get the best trade..

Silver is mined at 10 to 1 to gold but today price is 73 to 1..

very cool. I have yet to buy a kilo or anything bigger than 10oz. I'd like to buy a Kilo Tombstone if I do buy one.

Thanks for the info and pic link. I am a bit confused though,

AgCoinAu says "In short.... sell silver when the GSR is around 80... buy gold.... sell gold when GSR is around 40 and buy silver"

Gold4Ever says"Also you take the spot price of gold and divide it by the spot price of silver.. as todays prices say 73 oz of silver = 1oz of gold as you want the lowest number for silver to get the best trade"

Am I over thinking or is that the opposite?

Just call me confused but willing to learn.

I have to apologize.... I was doing too many things at once.... when I wrote that last post...

As the GSR is approaching 80... It means you're getting 80 silver to one gold oz.... I'm usually buying silver a bit at a time as it can be on discount. If the GSR hits 80 I sell my gold and get MORE silver....

If ever the GSR approaches 40... I'm a buyer of gold and I will sell all silver stock to get more gold. Price doing swaps doesn't matter one iota as if you're doing the swaps you will simply acquire free ounces.

sorry if there was any misunderstanding

Forgot to post it when it came, I have to say it is impressive in the hand! It really feels like you have something.

Congrats! I wouldn't mind to use one of those as a doorstop. I've never owned a kilo myself, but definitely hope to own one at some time or another. Buying it to benefit from the gold/silver ratio later on is a smart move in my opinion.

Here at the local Winnipeg Mint they have a kilo .999 gold bar which you can pick up and hold...

It's chained down and it has one security guard 4 feet from it... but every time I go there.. I always go to pick it up... love that feeling

It's all good, large silver bricks look awesome but I would be concerned about getting rid of them if I had them. How many buyers are available at anyone time to purchase something of that value. (Note: this is about me, I live in a small town)

thanks for posting

I have no less than 20 pawn shops within a 15 mile radius from my home. It would be so easy to sell any of my silver in any amount. For you in a small town you'd also have NO issue selling a kilo bar or higher since tons of mints, refineries, and dealers of precious metals offer to buy your silver. So don't worry about where you live.

I actually just sold my kilo bar to have a little liquid cash. I will be buying another soon though. I love holding a kilo of silver at once lol...

I also recently bought a 10 pound copper bar just for fun. Its amazing how small it actually is for its weight

Biggest single I own is a 10 oz. I have two 5 oz. bars as well.
Every payday, I usually pick up an oz.

The question that finally came to my mind is how often has this occurred? Is it a normal occurrence with history repeating itself or more of an aberration?

Thanks for the responses so far.

Since 1975 the GSR has hit 80 or more on 4 different spikes.. three of which you probably could've made some sort of swap. Conversely It has also dipped below 40 three times, two times within 3 years after the GSR had gone above 80.

I personally have swapped all my silver for gold on two different occasions and once I have swapped all my gold for silver. As the GSR steadily climbs I'm looking forward to doing another swap as it's literally "free" metal in the end.

Thank you for the info, according to my math it is at 72.4 at the time of this post.

It is nice to see that it has happened and possibly will happen again.
