In 1953 or 1954, my father bought 10 rolls of unsearched Indian cents, and dumping them out on the kitchen table, we found a 1914 Indian quarter eagle in one of them. True story - I still have it today.

Quote: ...survived more than a month squished between the coins. Unless the coin was covered with gum or food, that'd be near next to impossible for it to survive a month or more. I'm sure it'd been in there for several weeks, not necessarily a month. Those are often times airtight.

SSKid - At first we thought it was fake, because it was darkish for a gold coin, but in fact it was real. Now remember, with gold at $20/oz, this was only worth around five bucks! I read much later, I think in one of Q.D. Bower's books, that during the 1910-1920 period it was not that unusual for a newsboy to receive an Indian gold coin instead of an IHC for a newspaper.

Looks like some have found interesting items/coins, and other are waiting for their turn. A 1942 Mercury dime in a roll of cents about a year back.

your Lincoln Cent is counter stamped with state of Texas. That was done after it left the mint, so its PMD.
